Great trail, there is some construction by the time you get to the 2nd park that takes away from the views, but all in all a lovely winding trail. It does send you onto the golf property a few times in the beginning but then you’re right back on the river and it’s no big deal. Oh and it features an absolutely beautiful pine section as well, give yourself a nice break there.

Better than expected. It’s a casual walk through the trees along a reservoir. Needed to take the dog out for a longer walk to stretch his legs. I can see this as an awesome running path as well, but it’s a bit muddy for a few days after rain.

Nice and easy trail in Ashburn

Awesome trail. Never seen anything like it before. I am definitely coming back since I didn't have time to finish. It's a little tricky to find though.

Well used/well marked trail with nice views of the reservoir. Several muddy spots even when it hasn’t rained in a while. Peaceful on a weekday!

Bonus hike with Justin and JB. not crowded, great weather, adventuring.

Narrow trails. If you go with others you’ll be walking in a line all the way

Nice trail in great shape. Easy to follow. I took the blacktop path from the baseball fields park lot(By NPRA building, left of fields) to the first right dirt trail marked by a wooden pole with blue trail medallion. Dirt trail was smooth, clean and flat all the way to the reservoir dam. I followed the most used dirt trail closet to the water. When I crossed over a gravel parking lot halfway I went straight, which was off the trail by mistake through a grassy area. I could see how someone might think this part of the main trail wasn't kept up but again, this is not the real trail. I followed a "squirrel dirt trail" over some rocks with graffiti which lead me back to the main trail. I've hiked almost all the trails in NOVA and I was very surprised how this trail was such a secret. Planning to comeback and do a full loop of the reservoir. Reservoir was 1/3 full but still a nice view. Sunset over the water was beautiful and I noticed many bass striking the surface. FYI- Still no fishing or boating allowed. No swimming or hunting signs permanently posted.

Very trashy trail. Really disgusting amount of garbage along trail. Someone should organize a cleanup. We were visiting the Lansdowne Resort and thought a walk along the river would be nice. Very sad.

It's nice but a bit overgrown i guess since they closed it down. like any place that doesn't have any services to clean up there is a good bit of glass from kids partying out there. also since it is closed the parking is gated off but there is some parking out side and there is a church nextdoor. i have parked there but on a Sunday they might get mad, but they haven't said anything to me yet.

I went their with my kids but the gates were closed at 1pm on a Friday afternoon . Tried to access it from the Edgar Tillet Park but the area was too wooded.

Nice trail, but since it's so close to the baseball fields and housing developments the trail is littered with broken beer bottles. be carful if you have kids or dogs.

flat, mostly paved, nice mix of trees and shade. Dog friendly.

First half of the hike was pretty decent but once you cross the parking area into the 2nd section it’s overgrown and narrow, thicker than the 1st half so not much to see.
