A lovely hike along the wilderness boundary. The trail traverses a couple of lovely mature cove hardwood forest stands before starting up hill to the Pinacle ridge. There was a lot of blown down brush obscuring the trail but it s simple to get to the top. Lovely view of the Priest and several ridges. Be warned, although the trail is an old forest road, it is not blazed and can be lost.

At the trailhead there are 2 options, which can be confusing. One takes you to Crab Tree falls and is right from the parking lot. This review is for the other one, the meadows trail, which you access by continuing a little further down the road in the direction you came up, beyond the parking lot. Did this trail in early April. Looked a little abandoned, but was a lot of fun. Very foggy in the AM which leant quite an erie feel to the walk. The sun burned the fog off though and it was nice and peaceful. No sounds of civilization at all. Although we got a bit turned around in the last meadow and didn't go out to Pinnacle Rocks. Still had a good time though. A lot of deadfalls, but the trail is fairly easy to follow until the last open meadows area, where it gets indistinct. We found the forest service marker in the ground at that point, which was quite interesting.

Relatively easy walk. Saw some bear scat and paw prints in the soft moss covered first mile of the trail.

There is a 4 mile gravel road drive to get to this hike, which we weren't expecting. Luckily we have an SUV. Not so sure this would be good for a family car with low clearance. There are two small water crossings on the drive up the trail for your vehicle. Would be really muddy after a rain I suspect.

Great trail overall! Wonderful views and the waterfall is amazing. However directions from this app send you straight to the top of the mountain! Do not suggest taking this route unless you have a car built to off road and don't mind a dirt twisty road to the top. Found out after finishing the trail down there is a parking lot at the bottom. Not a great idea to park at the top, walk all the way down and then have to walk all the way back, this trail kicked my butt today!
