This trail was not what my son and I would consider easy. It is a steep climb right off the bat, which is discouraging to young beginners. This trail ended up with my son in tears and I had to ride both bikes back down. Not fun! And not easy!

Had to hike from the gate, should be open in 2 weeks. trails were in good shape except brook was too high for cutoff trail so back tracked to a tree to cross it (or just do a different loop)

Did this beautiful hike, more if a trek, in early March on snowshoes. Very enjoyable and serene with Stevenson Brook runnig next to the trail the majority of the way. Came across one other person on cross country skis.

Wet snow remains on the trails, a little slippery going down hill, and the trails are marked well. I did not need micro spikes or snowshoes. Appropriately rated, an easy walk/hike in the woods. The access road is in great shape!

Nice enough hike, just a little too easy and short for me. Currently, couple of inches of snow on the ground with a frozen crust.

Great hike with historical markers. Good for families and small kids.

What intended to be a short hike turned out to be almost 5 miles. Lots to see along the well kept trail, a great trail when it's sunny and hot, well shaded.
The park ranger said there's over 28 miles of trails within this state park. Costs 4 bucks but gives you access to the swimming area, picnic areas and the many trails.
I will definitely go back.

Drat...somehow there's still a couple of typos here. Stevenson Brook trail heads into the woods toward the RIGHT past the red gate across from the sign on our park road that reads STEVENSON BROOK TRAIL PARKING. Probably I was up too late when I wrote this! Apologies.

Addendum - pedestrians walking into the park are also required to pay the day use fee at the park office. There is parking for this trail, There are other, shorter loops using this trail:

1) 1. Stevenson Brook > Cutoff > Dalley Loop (west side) > Right on Park Road back to car = 1.6 miles R/t

2) Stevenson Brook > Sawmill Trail > Dalley Loop (west side) back toward road (past Goodell House) > Cutoff Trail > return on Stevenson Brook = 4.55 miles R/T

The GPS directions took us to a boat dock. If going do no stop there. Keep driving up into the state park. Beautiful hike. Mostly out of the sun. A little buggy.

Nice hike in the winter. It took us 2 hours with cramp-ons. We didn't want to spend all day hiking so a nice stop before getting to Burlington!

Great choice for a warm summer day with lots of cool shade and fun history lesson along the way. Takes you back to life in VT for the first settlers.

Nice woodland walking on wide trails by streams and old farms. Signs describing the history of the area are a bonus. Beautiful.

Nice trail, good work out and mix of incline and flat walking space.

Nice walk with some beautiful scenery.

Great easy walk through the woods in a camp that was flooded and destroyed in the 1920s - would be ideal for a snow shoe or cross country skiing. Had my dog off leash - and there's all these cool old chimneys and foundations there with a story about what happened to the camp/how they lived/etc. very cool, would highly recommend! The only thing is it was kind of a maze of trails so pay attention where you go!

great trail- easy and relaxing. no elevation gain or "summit area" to speak of. if you're looking for a gentle walk in the woods along a stream, this is it. Bring a map with you if you need it- there isn't one on trail or at the trailhead.

This particular path in Little River State Park was mostly open, clear, and beautiful (the water follows you for nearly the entire hike). Recent rains, however, have made much of the path more treacherous, and there are also parts of the hike that rapidly ascend; quite a steep transition if you're looking for a beginner's trail. Overall though, my wife and I enjoyed this hike and just about everyone will be able to make the trip.
