Despite this app stating that dogs are allowed on leash on this trail - they are not allowed at all. They are only allowed on the Vista trail. We were hoping for a nice relaxing walk around the lake. The person at the gate happily took our money and then looked in the back seat and said that since we have dogs with us we were super limited as to where we could go.

Moderately good fall foliage, Lake Griffith is a nice stop, excellent 180 degree views from the summit.

Emerald Lake itself is very beautiful. It was nice to see so many families enjoying a day at the lake. This hike takes you through Camping Area C as the loop portion before and after meandering along the lake’s edge on one side (train tracks on the other prohibit you from walking the entire lake). This was an enjoyable hike. Very shady. Not too many bugs.

Awesome hike. Steep climb up to Baker Peak but a good challenge with a beautiful view to finish.

Very serene area. I walked to the beginning of the loop and back, since a microburst storm fell upon me, but nonetheless a beautiful trail with lots of lichen and mushrooms to discover. Looks like a perfect kayaking spot too, if you want to spend the money to rent one of theirs. (It would be difficult to lug yours down to the put-in area.)

Not much for “vistas”, but it was a cool and shady trail for a run. The trail is not well used, making the footing dicey on the steeps. A nice diversion from pavement

This trail has some nice views of emerald lake and great forest walking. I liked it for a quick trail run but You can hear and see the road at the vista points. It takes about an hour.

Not my favorite. Constant up hill. A simple trail with not a lot to see ( unless you get to top which we did not). We made it past the falls. Just ok. At one point I could hear traffic.

Did this trail one year ago. The wilderness is beautiful the views are ok. If you are looking for an easy trail with kids. This is the one. It's like a walk in the park.

Great scenic trail from the emerald lake state park. Did it with my autistic 14 year old, he did great! So I would def recommend the trail for people with older children. This is a trail with moderate challenges along the way.

A beautiful trail filled with wildlife and flourishing plant life. Progressively steeper trail with streams and several small waterfalls at @ 1 and 1/2+ mile mark. Griffith Lake is approximately 2 and 3/4 miles to 3 miles from the South End Trail Head. A very nice hike overall.

this is a nice gradual decline hike in. I entered the the trail head thru Peru, Vermont off CR58. There are not really any overlooks but it was nice.

This is a lovely trail through scenic woods that intersects the Long Trail. The trail follows an old bridal path and is a steady and mostly gentle climb of 1900 feet. There are a few views of Dorset Mountain across the valley. Griffith Lake is a lovely lake and good for swimming. There is a tenting area a little ways down the Long Trail. It is suitable for beginner hiking, snowshoeing, and maybe advanced cross country skiing. A loop can be made by taking the Baker Peak Trail to the summit of Baker Peak for great views of the Valley of Vermont.
