We couldn't find what we'd hoped for, a trail that goes around the edge of either of the ponds so our dogs could swim and run around. Instead we found a fairly boring out-and-back trail that we got by starting at the green gate between the two parking lots. Walk along the dike that separates the ponds, cross the rocks at the end of the dike and continue the trail into the woods. Bear right in 100 yards and continue the gentle climb up the hill and back down the other side.

The nicest thing for us about the trail is that dogs don't need to be on leash after you cross the rocks, as the fishermen don't seem to go past there. There were also geese in the upper pond.

Great area year around, fishing, kayaking, snowshoeing. Nice scenery, light traffic, great spot to capture a sunset.

I am new to this wilderness area, there are no established trails to the summits that I have found yet. This trailhead does have a sign that says it is the wilderness management area but there is a gate and after about a mile a hunting camp; from that point there is a couple of trails from the property that have randomly marked trees (blue paint, pink plastic ties) but the trail itself is very unmaintained and primitive. I was able to make the closest high point using the GPS, this however was in true bush-whacking style. As you can tell by my track I've barely touched this ridge but I'm going to explore it further and will continue to track my excursions..
