Lovely place. Was a bit hard to find beginning of trail you have to go behind pond behind the inn. And grown in at times but didn’t get too lost! Downloaded map before setting out, very recommended. No real views

Nice simple walk which took us about two hours. The west side of the lake has no campsites and is close to waters edge.

My favorite trail! It’s not super difficult, just long. Great for dogs and not many people use this trail. The lake is beautiful and well worth the 11 miles.

Chandler had a gentle incline with a few nice views. I saw no one else. Silver lake is gorgeous and quiet as usual. Leicester Hollow was really pretty but completely awful with mosquitoes and nettles. I’ve never seen mosquitoes like this, including in Alaska, and I ended up a bit mad at nature. I’ll go back...after first freeze.

The dogs liked it...No people and lots of places for them to get water. Many spots we were hiking through mud.

Running

Fantastic route for trail running! If you do the loop clockwise you get most of the elevation in the first three miles - after that it’s pretty smooth sailing. Beautiful views of multiple lakes. I definitely recommend doing the loop clockwise if you’re running since the Leicester Hollow trail was flat and easy going - nice to have those miles at the end. Trails were dry and well maintained. Not too busy/overpopulated either. Great trail!

Great trail. Heavily wooded and quiet. My partner, dog, and I took the less traveled ROAD down to the lake so that we could avoid other folks and dogs. (Our dog is still new to us and we are just trying to gently expose him to hiking and having fun). We hiked on Easter Sunday and the parking area was packed. We only ran into a few people during the walk itself. It was a bit unsettling to see dogs off leash though, especially when this is an “on leash“ trail.

Nice easy loop! Chandler ridge has nice views to the west. Leicester trail is an old road that used to lead to the Silver Lake hotel back in the 20s, so it’s very flat.

Hiking

I assume this trail is marked as moderate because of the distance because I found th terrain to be easy. I hiked carrying my 40lb toddler in a backpack on the Chandler loop trail to Silver Lake loop (but didn't do Silver Lake loop). My GPS said it was 10.22 miles from the parking area up Minnie Baker trail to Chandler loop trail to Silver Lake loop and then back down Chandler & Minnie Baker. Iturned it on after I had already been hiking so I think the distance was closer to 11 miles. Because of the distance and the fact that I was carrying my toddler (and we never stopped to take a break and eat lunch as I had intended), the ranking of moderate seems appropriate. If I was hiking without a toddler strapped on my back, I would mark the trail as moderately easy because the terrain was easy to navigate. There were a few sections where I couldn't see the trail very well because it was covered with leaves. I imagine in the Spring/Summer/before leaves have fallen that the trail is easy to follow. It would be an excellent trail for trail running. It was definitely a beautiful hike and I would /will do it again.

Nice easy hike around the lake. Descent to lake is through a beautiful diverse forest and Rocky Point Interactive Trail is well done and informative. Going clockwise around the lake brings you to the picnic area and bathrooms just in time for lunch!

Great hike! Might be a bit longer than indicated. We hiked briskly in 3 hours 20 minutes. Leicester Hollow Trail was lovely and relatively flat but very well maintained. It follows a brook most of the way. Could be muddy under more moist conditions. Silver Lake is a gem! Chandler Ridge trail is so different as you climb to a more mountain-like trail. Lots of small switchbacks on This trail. Overall, the trails were very well maintained. You may have to share with a mountain biker or horseperson!
