If you've got friends or family visiting you in Vermont, Mount Philo is the perfect way to spend a few hours. A very easy mile each way gets you some great views of Lake Champlain and the surrounding areas. Very crowded in the summer, try to hike this one around 5 or 6 pm to catch the setting sun over Lake Champlain.

Nice family friendly hike. You can choose to stick to path or follow the paved road both up and down. Offers some beautiful views of Lake Champlain.

This is the perfect walk with amazing views of Lake Champlain. It’s also a great bike ride, including a paid ferry trip to Chicago next to the Lake Champlain Islands.

enjoyed hiking here. we met so many people from different age groups. very nice view at the top and relaxing picnic spots. restroom area is also well maintained. in short worth the hike. and perfect for beginners!

This is a well kept, well used path that is easy, accessible and beautiful. What a fabulous activity for Burlington.

This is a must do, whether you’re a local or just visiting. It’s easy, it’s scenic and it’s a fabulous way to see the lake.

Perfect hike for beginners. Gives a challenge at the beginning, great view at the top and easy paved road on the way down. I would have preferred a wooded path the entire way but this hike was enjoyable. We passed many of all ages, 3 years to 70s. Some of the younger kids were complaining but our 8 year olds did great. The path was hard packed and steps were available in some areas.

We hike Mount Philo with our kids a few times a year and it is always a fun adventure!

great views and an easy hike. picnic area at the top.

Nice, wide looping trails through an aromatic, shadey cedar forest. Can get mosquito-ey at dusk in mid-summer.

The bike ferry that connects to the Champlain Islands is operational and run by Local Motion in Burlington. This really adds to this already great walk or ride.

Fairly flat, beautiful views, best on a hybrid bike.

Beautiful view, nicely maintained trail, kid friendly and high foot traffic. Wish it was a little less busy but it was a VT summer day, can’t expect to have the trail to ourselves. Was a great hike with the kiddo.

Well maintained, well trodden. Went on a week day encounter six sets of folks during the trip. Great views of the Green Mnts and Adirondack’s (w labeled signage). Some fences to keep idiots and children from falling off the overlooks.

Loved this trail for the first mile. After you have to walk on a road and then across a few busy streets. Very little to no shade coverage. At the trail head there is a Spector overflow that smells horrible!

Great easy hike with great views

Several unmarked trails through a nice forest setting and along along Lake Champlain. Found a calm peaceful spot on the rocks to sit and relax. Gorgeous view of the adirondacks as well

Great around an hour long hike (total) on the paved road still gave us and our pooch a good quick work out. Plenty of chairs and picnic tables at the summit along with water and restrooms, but be ready for lots of people and noise at the summit. You can also drive right up if you just want to visit the summit.

This is a great trail to test new shoes/packs/etc. due to the quickness and choice of paved or woodpath.

Great new paving job since last we rode here!

Beautiful trail!! Love the scenery.

Absolutely beautiful bike path from Burlington out across Lake Champlain to South Hero. We did this during our long weekend in Burlington and it was by far the highlight! Once on South Hero we continued to Allenholm farm and orchards and then followed up with a stop at Snow Farm vineyard.

Accessible hike with a great view of the lake and Adirondack Mountains.

fun trail! like the steps and a nice picnic area at the top

I just love this place which Is close to where I live and is an easy go to for me! Easy trails with beautiful views of Lake Champlain, the Adirondacks, Camels Hump and Mount Philo at look out points. Great for walking, trail running, biking as well as winter activities. Go get it!

Good trails, but most are not marked and there are many trails that divert off the main one. Great views of the lake, both high up on the cliffs and close to the water!!

Definitely not the easiest and in mud season even a little tricky at times with the dog and kiddos. But such a good steep hike, and worth the trip. My kids have officially climbed a mountain!
