Great hike but the waterfall is barely a trickle. There a side hike up the side of the mountain if you have the skills. Beautiful view from the top. Warning signs for mountain lions in the area, did see proof that they have been there, also saw a tarantula on the trail. Will return in the spring. Beautiful canyon.

Only putting 5 rating, because it’s an awesome workout. This is steep though. It’s actually steeper than Jacobs ladder and you end up climbing straight up the mountain connecting with trail eagle and going down to bonneville shoreline to get back. This felt more like I was hunting actually, because of terrain on last half. It was 10 miles round trip actually, but only 3 ascending. It’s steep. :)

My favorite hike ever

beautiful the entire way up. the landscape changes when you reach the lake and again when you start heading up the canyon. the leaves are stunning this time of year, and there was even a little snow. the falls were gorgeous (also had some snow and ice), absolutely worth it. I'd definitely be willing to do this one again.

the last mile is quite steep, more so than the stretch leading up to the lake. it was such a good leg workout. ;) you're looking at over 1000 ft elevation gain the last mile, so be prepared for that.

Very difficult hike, the final half mile to the summit is poorly marked so you’re pretty much on your own. Found myself in several spots near the peak where I had to backtrack to find the trail. But if you push on to the summit you will be rewarded with amazing views of the Cottonwood canyons and the Wasatch mountains.

Well established trail, fantastic views of Little Cottonwood, the trail gets pretty steep on the approach to Red Pine. If your feeling adventurous continue past the lake up to a few lakes higher in the valley and get an amazing view of Pfiefferhorn. Went in late September, it got pretty cold and windy higher up. If you do go to the upper lakes, some of them might be dry, but Upper Pine is a worthy sight, one of the most beautiful Wasatch Lakes in my opinion.

Great Fall walk with kids. Great views and pretty water fall. Super easy trail for 4 years old. It’s steep but the wooden stairs are well built. Watch out for signs or the trail will be easily missed because it is within a residential area.

Short and beautiful!

Beautiful trial and scenery For sure I’ll do it again!!

Gorgeous hike. On the way up, be sure to stay to the left side of reservoir. Last .6 mi is very challenging even for the young and fit, as the trail is steep and littered with large rocks. Waterfall at top is well worth the effort!

So I did this hike today (OCT 14th) with my wife. It was snowing when we pulled up to the lot but we decided to trek on anyway. The views were beautiful. We saw a total of 6 deer (although two of them may have been the same ones just several hours apart). We also saw a moose. The going got tough towards the top because the last mile or so is about .6 mile elevation. Investing in some spikes for the shoes is probably a great idea. Some gaiters are probably not a bad idea but hiking poles definitely help to probe the snow. The lake was frozen and it was gorgeous. I forgot my sunglasses so when the sun came out the snow kinda hurt my eyes! Some hikers that were there before us said the route up to Pfeiferhorn was too tough because the snow was too deep. Overall great trail. Easy to follow.

First time on this trail and it definitely does not disappoint. A little more difficult than I wanted due to my son and I packing out camping gear as well, but had a great time and will do it again.

Went on oct 14. Cold day with recent snowfall. Trail was snowpack the entire way. The last half mile or so (at around 10,000 feet) I was walking through 2-3 feet of snow where maybe one person had hiked through it before. The lake was amazing in the snow. Complete solitude, I was the only one up there.

The trail got less and less defined as the snow got deeper, I could tell others had turned around due to the snow. Be prepared with gaiters and spikes, although I didn’t have either and I was fine

Entire hike took 3h 40m round trip.

I’m a BRAND NEW hiker but It was gorgeous! the wood chips kept getting in my shoes. It may be uncomfortable for older folks since the wood chips also make it a little bit more difficult to walk.

Although you can hear cars a lot of the time, I enjoy the gully feel this trail has, and how it feels like being in the mountains while in the city. Its fun jogging this mainly flat but also versatile trail. I like mixing it with other trails close/intercrossing this one (sego lily and such).

Did this hike yesterday. Beautiful, but less than a mile after the avalanche sign I ran into fresh mountain lion tracks that caused me to turn around. Looking forward to trying the full trail another time.

very difficult hike. Be wary the trail goes right and up the side but we ended up scrambling in the shale. if anyone finds a turquoise beaded earring it belonged to my dear friend who has passed away.

Despite what some reviews say, this is an easy hike, particularly for Utah. You can also access this from the Granite Trailhead. It is generally quite busy and you will see plenty of eager and energetic children on this hike, as with most easy and moderate rated hikes in Utah.

Super easy, but good view. Just a good Sunday stroll.

This is definitely not hard. It’s moderate. It seems long though and not as pretty as red pine in my opinion. The lake is amazing though and better than red for sure. Without the ending I’d have given a 3 star actually.

This isn’t too bad. Only hard for about a mile. If you do this hike though, you might as well go one more mile to pfeiferhorn in my opinion though. :)

Love this hike. Super quick, only hard for about a mile tops. Gives you lots of time to chill there. Done this so many times can’t count. Ha

Its snow time and its kind of moderate..Half of the trail covered with light snow, cold at the lake. Moose sightings and fall leaves make this trail awesome!!

Such a beautiful hike! The last stretch is just as they say: steep and rocky. But the hike is worth it.

It’s ok...pretty views of the mountains at least. It is a short hike but definitely more moderate than easy, just because it’s more of a very steep climb. Pretty much the whole way to the reservoir you are climbing large rocks and high steps. Kind of a pain when you have short legs.

The last few reviews were very accurate. Highly recommend this hike.

An amazing trail that offers good rugged uphill trekking.
Bring your hiking poles they will make your life much easier on this one.
Allow yourself extra time for a picnic by the lake.
A beautiful glacier fed lake awaits you.
Wildlife sightings are common, I wore hiking boots for extra ankle support for climbing on rocks.
You can’t go wrong up here on Red Pine or White Pine Lake. Enjoy!

A great trail with scenic views! Pretty tough trail with constant uphill. Worth it though.

Trail was in great shape, very little mud, and leaves are changing and look great. Long hike, be prepared, and enjoy the views.

Nice little hike.
