I did this loop earlier today...did a little geocaching and then because I am a glutton for punishment I hiked up to the lower falls. Both are good hikes....just different and the difficulty level is harder for the lower falls. This loop trail still gives you a workout because the first part of it is going uphill so ignore the difficulty level rated as easy and give it a try and if it's not enough then go up to the falls....I am sure that will be enough unless you are in incredible shape. have a good one all.

Beautiful but the graffiti was disappointing on the boulders near the falls...

My favorite waterfall! very whimsical and peaceful. It is a short hike and great for yoga/meditation or pondering time. The waterfall is breathtaking tucked around Rocky mountain and forestry. I go here often to relax...

I was blown away with the beauty of this trail. The wildflowers are currently in bloom and that was amazing. We started hiking around 8:00pm and were able to get to the top by sunset. The alpinglow off the mountains was stunning. You have 360 degree views of the other peaks and canyons all around.

Only hiked up to the base of the first waterfall. Don't have any experience rock climbing or scrambling so I didn't even consider trying to get to the upper falls. If I ever learn I will go back and attempt the full hike. If you want a short, shady hike with a waterfall then try this one and just go to the base of the first waterfall. It was pretty nice just sitting on the big rocks at the falls. If you want some more hiking you can go across the road too and hike around..... pretty nice river down there.

Only about .20 miles from the trailhead, steep steps at the beginning but pretty easy and short. Past the waterfall is very steep and slippery, don’t let young kids climb up there (learned that the hard way).

beautiful short hike! waterfall at end is bonus!

This trail is for scenic driving or road cycling. It's not really for walking or hiking. Though, there are many hiking trails that start from this road. This road is quite narrow and windy in parts as it goes up into the mountain. This road is labeled moderate. I can only speak about driving up it (not road cycling), and I can say moderate could be true. If it is summer and snowless, it should be fine and easy, just have to drive carefully. But in the winter or wet weather, of course one needs to be careful and then it may be rated hard. This canyon is beautiful as the peaks are closer to the road, some are tree covered, and others are rock faces. When driving down, you can see into the Salt Lake Valley. It's a nice view going up and coming back down.

We only walked one way on this trail today. On the way down, we took the ski lift (mostly as we also went on the nearby Cecret Lake trail, as well). This is our second year on this hike. Since I had read reviews the flowers were already in full bloom, we went on July 8 (2018). Last year we went on July 30. Kind of glad we did not wait as it already seems some flowers are drying out due to the lack of rain this year and also the fact the snow fall was low last year.

Note: Do not go in the midday like we did- the sun was blaring and hot and it made me a tad miserable. The trail starts out with a steady elevation gain, if you aren't used to it, this can add to the misery. Maybe going up on the ski lift and walking down may be a better option. Keep in mind if you go on the lift, you will not go over the meadow where most of the wildflowers are.

It is a steep hike, but is very short. It’s beautiful once you get up there, just watch out for the ducks and geese

What a gorgeous hike! It has been a dry year, so the wild flowers are already in full swing. I would get up here before the crowds hit hard. Remember you have to pay $7 to drive past Alta parking lot anytime after 7:30 am. I wanted to go from the campground parking lot on the upper trail, but they have closed it off which was a drain for that is a beautiful section. My blog shows 360 stitched images of the area. Check it out for more info. https://shaunasadventures.blogspot.com/2018/07/360-adventure-albion-basion-cecret-lake.html?m=1

This is an easy trail for OCR racers. It’s a doable trail for the rest of us.I think I’ll add this trail for my Spartan practices.

The summer road is closed to cars right now. we walked 25 mins up the road which was exposed and hot and we weren't even close to making it to the trailhead.

We found this fall to be very beautiful and peaceful. Up to the fall I would rate it Moderate. There are some steep areas, and it is a lot of rocks you have to climb. I was able to do the hike by myself with a 7 year old and a 4 year old. I would reccomend this hike.

This was great for an hour out of our day, just keep in mind you will be going up and up and up the whole time till you reach the waterfall and it's not the greatest one but it is pretty and worth it. I did not like that when you get right before the entrance to the waterfall there is rocks just everywere and my 4 year old got scared she did not want to slip, just be causion when going and age limtit's and NO DOGS.

very inclined, but beautiful and totally doable for kids.

Screw All Trails for claiming this is easy. Definitely difficult hike. Pretty, but difficult

nice easy hike. this is not 2.3 miles. not sure where they got that from but its 0.5 miles one way. roundtrip is 1 Mile. super easy for kids. no traffic.

We went Friday at around 4pm, and had the waterfall to ourselves for awhile. So fun to take my niece (7) and nephews (14, 11) who had never been. We saw the hugest spider on the rocks by the falls! Practically Aragog or Shelob...or it felt that way. Great time climbing around and putting our dogs (feet) in the water. Other types of dogs not allowed.

this was such a good hike! it wasn't hard, just get ready for a lot of stairs.

It says easy... I guess that’s subjective, but it is very worth the effort.

I left my toddler's small, blue and yellow flip flops somewhere along the trail between granite trailhead and the reservoir. I uploaded a photo of the shoes in the photos. If anyone finds them, please text me at 801-653-0403!! Thank you:)

Loved the stairs! The waterfall was really beautiful too.

Very short, easy. It's a stretch to call this a hike since it's essentially a sidewalk, but great view from a newly built deck at the end, or from nearby rocks. You can do the trail as mapped, but you walk through the resort, which is less fun. I suggest driving past the 'trailhead', down Alta bypass Rd, and park just beyond the over pass. There's an obvious trail that traverses above the resort to meet up with the paved path. It's marked with a dotted line on the all trails map.

perfect short hike for any age!

Quick hike, beautiful views!

Cool hike but nothing too special. Not sure we this is rated hard. It’s rocky but they are big and easy to get up. Somehow this is rated hard and Lower Bell Canyon is rated easy but this was way easier than Bell Canyon?

Loved this hike but it should be rated moderate based on other nearby hikes. Starts off fairly steep and rocky. My 4 year old crushed it though. Don’t feed the geese. They nearly attacked us because of people who have fed them.

The trail itself is very beautiful. There is frequent shade and plenty of foliage, the incline isn’t steep, and it wasn’t very crowded. It’s virtually all sand, and because it’s a horse trail there’s plenty of horse droppings in various stages of decomposition all over the trail, so we didn’t complete the whole trail because my 8-year-old son was too grossed out. There are several trails all parallel to each other at this site, and none of them are really marked so you either have to use GPS or make your best guess that you’re on the trail you actually wanted to be on. On the way back we somehow ended up on a narrow, fairly steep trail instead of on the gently incline we came down. I don’t think we’ll be doing this one again.
