longest .7 of my life...

Went yesterday in beautiful weather. $6 after Alta resort to drive to the top, but worth it. Also worth it to park at the Albion Basin Campground instead of the Catherine's Pass lot. After Cecret Lake, a tiny section of the service road is blocked and under construction, but don't give up, just follow the lift up the hill. It took us 1.5 hours from parking lot to Sugarloaf peak, but with plenty of rest stops. It took us about 1.5 to get down too, but that's because the hill down the peak on the loop is very steep, but still recommended over going back the way you came because it has switch-backs and isn't as rocky as the way up. It also took us longer because at the bottom of the hill we went right instead of staying left closer to the lake, and that put us back a twenty minute detour. All things considered, you could get up there after breakfast and be done for lunch, but I'd recommend snacks. So beautiful!!!

Loved the view of Pfeifferhorn , one lake was dry but still beautiful.

Mostly up hill but has some nice reprieve with switch backs and flatter parts. A mix of shady and exposed. The lake was beautiful and it wasn’t too trafficked. Round trip took me about 5.5 hours including a nice break at the top. Love this hike.

The view is always great, but this is my least favorite hike/summit in SLC. The loose shale rock sucks, and makes me worried the entire time. The good thing is looking over Alta and Snowbird, and almost always seeing mountain goats.

This is by far my favorite hike on the wasatch. Start early so you can be to the lake just after sunrise, and you'll probably see moose.
I've hiked it many, many times, and it doesn't get old.

Decided to go for a hike as it was my first full day in Utah. Just know there are three parking lots that all lead to these falls so remember the way you went up/need to go down- I spent 30 minutes walking around trying to find my car. The hike up was beautiful, difficult at times and flat at times. At the end, the last .7 miles are extremely tough but then you’re rewarded with the waterfall. Highly recommend.

The route up is an access road so it’s rocky, wide, and very exposed to the sun. The lake itself is nice. There are very limited tent sites if you’re planning on staying the night.

Awesome hike. Great views and enough of a challenge to keep the heart rate up. Hiked up at a pretty good pace (but stopped to take pics a few times) and took about 50 mins to get to the falls. Ran back down at a moderately fast pace and it took a little less than half the time it took to get up. Map estimate of distance is right on - my gps said 4.45 miles for the out and back.

Great hike this time of year, be aware THE LAKE HAS NOT BEEN DRAINED. The water levels can get low this time of year especially with dry conditions, but Red Pine and White Pine do have water in them.

Great day! Enjoyed the solitude of the Beatout as well.

I hiked up this morning. Be forewarned - they have drained the lake. It is currently a much smaller, much less attractive lake. I'd skip hiking here until it is refilled. And I don't know when that will be.

loved this hike it's a bit hard for kids but the falls at the end was awesome.

Quick and fun. Loved the last ridge.

Great morning hike done in 2.39 hrs with two long stops at the top of Tuscarora and Wolverine. Trail is very visible and easy to follow for experienced hikers with basic navigation skills.

Just another way to celebrate a beautiful wat to celebrate a beautiful day in Utah, with outdoors activities with friends and family.

have hiked this trail twice this summer. better each time. will be doing it again very soon.

Challenging and fun!

AMAZING! Very technically challenging with scrambling required especially on the approach to the summit. The wildflowers stretching up the side of the mountain face in July is a sight not to be missed! :-) _/|\_ <3 When you reach the summit, you see great views of the Salt Lake Valley and neighboring peaks. I will have to come back to conquer Monte Cristo another time ...

This trail is pretty dangerous. I actually hurt my ankle coming down. It's not a well established trail. You are hiking along the river so it's steep and extremely soft, unstable dirt.

Amazing!

Excellent Views make the bouldering WELL worth it!

I absolutely loved the Alpine lake!

Definitely one to add to the List if not already on there!

:-)

Has always been my most favorite hike! It’s definitely a challenge but well worth it! It’s very steep about half way up, which makes it almost harder to come down! Make sure you have good griped shoes and PLENY of water! Definitely depending on the time of year you do it of course! I did it for the last time last year 8months pregnant and then again this year for the first time 8months out! LOVE IT!

Rock Climbing: 5/5
Views: 5/5
Defined trail: 2/5
Overall adventure 4.5/5

I love this hike, but people should be aware that there is a good amount of rock climbing/scrambling involved. I saw 2 people turn around because it was too hard for them. That’s the only reason I gave it 4 stars.

Great trail! Prepare for a workout, especially in the beginning. View was great!

Amazing trail. Morning is definitely the time to go. It’s gradual at the beginning and gets very steep at the top. There were only a few good flat sites at the top for a tent, though.

Great trail!
Lake is a great stop for photos.
Saw one rattlesnake.

Loved this hike! The views are amazing and you get rewarded with a reservoir. We recorded 15 miles in and out. Bring extra water. Maybe there are different trails? Regardless - it’s awesome!!

Did the hike from cecret lake the morning or 8/5. We went up and down via the service road (to the right of cecret lake), instead of doing the loop, because my map wasn’t loading. The ascent from the top of sugarloaf lift to sugarloaf peak was very steep and pretty difficult, especially going down- lots of loose rock. It sounds like going down the other side towards devil’s castle is probably easier, so I would try that next time.

This was a really fun hike. The beginning was very very easy and a little boring. After the reservoir it gets more challenging. the trails aren't marked too well. the last .3 miles are very steep, but really fun and challenging to climb. The falls are amazing and well worth it. There is a large Boulder shelf that you can stand on and take a picture of the valley as well. I would recommend going in the morning, about 7, traffic is very light and usually faster more athletic people are there. It was really busy around 930 is with novice hikers
