I did this hike yesterday around 1030am. The waterfall was pretty but I probably won’t do the hike again. For about 2/3 of the hike it’s pretty steep. There also aren’t many views or pretty things to look at along the way. Plus the creek along the trail had an unpleasant smell.

Waterfall more of a trickle late summer. Great for a morning trail run.

Nice hike, very rocky with few flat spots. Waterfall barely a trickle in mid-August. Still nice views of the town.

I wouldn't do this trail again.

We are in pretty great shape, but my wife wanted to turn back with about 2 miles left because we didn't know if we'd have a better route back down.

I liked how hard the trail was and could have completed, but this trail had a lot of challenges midway through that were not our favorite:

- The swarms of wasps was disconcerting and too frequent for our liking. It made it difficult to enjoy the light stream at all.
- The first overgrowth section was about a mile of swatting bushes out of your face.
- The second overgrowth was several miles in and it was low shrubbery that tore up your legs.
- The scenery and "wildflowers" were pretty blah.

If you're going for a challenging hike, enjoy overlooks, and are well equipped for the rough terrain, and don't mind a lot of overgrowth on your hike, enjoy!

*We hiked just under 10 miles total of this trail according to Google Fit.

Gets easier every time. Takes 25-35 minutes to get up. Wear decent shoes. Waterfall is more of a trickle currently. Sunsets are nice with the smoke in the air.

My husband and I and our friend Erin completed this hike on July 28.

We started the hike at about 12:30, and made it down around 3:30 (although we did jog part of the way down). It was a 100* day, and only 10% of the trail is shaded, so we were roasting. The trail is moderately inclined the entire way, with sections that are severely steep. We stopped probably 10 times on the way up.

The views at the top were great.... we're glad we made it! My only complaint for this hike is the directions. I've been on the Indian Trail multiple times and never noticed the turnoff for Hidden Valley.

Would definitely recommend this hike for anyone who is in good shape and ready to take on a serious climb.

Awesome trail, lots of shade. About a mile up it opens up a bit with a ton of ferns that guard the path tightly for half a mile or so. I would like to go all the up and take Malans down. Looks like 10 miles and 4800 ft up

Sunday was pretty crowded, not the trails fault but a group of people brought up their ganster rap, who wants that kind of music on a hike?! You hike to enjoy stillness.
maybe someone will read this and not be that person on a hike (:

Just finished this hikes. This hike is HARD!!! It is steep and insanely rocky. If you have knee problems, or are not in moderate shape, don't do this hike. There are pretty spots and views; this time of year the waterfall is nothing special.

Great hike but the lack of snow fall has made this waterfall a bit disappointing.

just visiting, small hike in the morning. it was some loose rock and not much waterfall but some good views and still had fun

Left at 8:00 in the morning and the weather was perfect. Trail wasn’t crowded. Took about an hour. The end of the trail was rocky but manageable. The waterfall was a little disappointing......not a lot of water coming over. Still a great hike!

When I was younger I loved this hike, however, be prepared to have a lot of people around you.

Good hike if you dont have time to drive far from town. The beginning is fairly easy and mid way the trail gets very rocky. I'm not sure if there is a real waterfall earlier in the year, but today, its was more of a trickle with a mist. The shade was nice in the July heat though :)

my son took me on this hike. It was a work out for me but I really enjoyed the scenery.

Only did 9 miles of it. I was pressed for time. Saw bobcat paw prints. Get up the switch backs quick, limited shade.

Nice falls, was on all fours toward the end.

Love this hike! It’s probably in my top top 3 in Ogden ❤️ it’s definitely a steep climb but the climb is worth the view!

Hiked this mid July and started around noon. Start of trail you are more exposed. Then shade for majority of trail. With a 1 and 2y/o we took our time due to heat. Scenery beautiful and would have appreciated a few more signs.

This is a favorite hike for our family. The waterfall is impressive. Try it in the winter if you haven’t! It’s a good workout and a fair climb but my young kids have all been able to do it.

Beautiful hike! If you go in the morning you can avoid the afternoon/weekend rush, as well as the heat. The trail has plenty of shade half way up.

Great trail but a little too busy for my liking...

Love this hike, but we ran into a rattlesnake this morning (July 6) so we ended up turning around. It’s also possible it was a gopher snake. It was only 7:00am so we totally thought we were going early enough. Just be careful on the warm summer mornings.

streams. rocks. snakes. bees. wild berries. shade. waterfall. what's not to love?

A trail maintained mainly by peoples feet, gets pretty overgrown after the first bridge and you have to take a left off the main trail before the second bridge. Also may want to wear jeans or long sleeve for the hike.

Had a pretty good time on this trail was a bit tougher then I expected at the beginning but once I hit the rocky area it got a lot easier for me!

This has always been one of my favorite hikes. Even though the trail is not terribly long, it is a pretty steady incline up to the waterfall. It is well shaded, making it a perfect hike for any time of day, and the falls at the top are nice and cool and absolutely lovely. The farther you go, the rockier and steeper the path gets, but with decent shoes or hiking sandals, it can be done within about two hours.

I would say this hike is a bit more on the harder side of moderate.
There wasn’t much shade, so definitely wear sunscreen! We saw LOTS of lizards, butterflies, dragonflies and a couple of hawks.

Took longer than expected but worth the views. Bring water and snacks. Snowpack made some parts a little challenging.
