Challenging and beautiful

This place is so beautiful. It was so worth it! I will definitely come back.

When you just hike to the waterfalls I would consider it a moderate hike. But if you hike up to the plateau of the canyon I would definitely consider it a difficult/hard hike - very much worth it. But consider elevation, time, water supply and weather when hiking up to the plateau!

Was a fun break from the usual crowds with amazing views! Take your time, be safe & enjoy taking in the beautiful scenery. Fun crossing the v river a few times....
From The Cowboy Bunkhouse in Kanab!

It is a multi use trail with a high amount of ATV and some horse usage.

Amazing scenic views. Great relaxing vistas. No designated trail just a vast area to explore. Climbing the dunes takes stamina. There is an overlook that has shade under it, otherwise no shade. You Lots of wind.

beautiful trail, lots of scrambling over rockfall.

Wow. This trail was amazing! We were the ONLY ones on the trail for our entire hike!! We hiked for two hours up the trail, then we hiked 2 hours back and took the river back. It was gorgeous. We stood under some waterfalls and it was refreshing on a hot day.

Nice hike. I did the extended hike to Sawmill Springs and stayed the night there. I went in the summer months when the water was just seeping our of the spring. Needless to say I spent a lot of time boiling water.
Very secluded area,I did not see anyone else past the white domes.
It was definitely an island in the sky.

Awesome hike. Not a lot of water but I highly recommend this hike.

I’ve done this hike twice now. The first time we hiked up the river, the second we used the path as far as we could go without needing ropes. Beautiful hike, walking down the river is super fun, lots of obstacles but we found a few small waterfalls with pools big enough to swim in

Challenging hike for our 5 kids (ages 4 to 11) due to constant up and down the trail goes along the base of the canyon. The kids also had some problems getting through the somewhat over grown vegetation. Don't miss the arch on the east canyon wall! Personally it was a great 1/2 day hike for us adults and the scenery was amazing. Low traffic made the hike very enjoyable.

The map on here does not actually reflect the trail, but rather the dirt road leading to it. About 2/3 of the way down the dirt road, the road was completely washed out. Before then, there were some sketchy parts as well, but passable as long as you're careful. We opted to park our small car at the head of this dirt road instead. It's about a 1.8 mile walk to Water Canyon Trailhead. Water Canyon Trail is marked at 1.5 miles each way (at least until you reach the canyon part itself...it does go beyond this with canyonerring opportunities). Getting to the end is worth every step. It has cool temperatures once you reach the canyon, and it's beautiful; very unique. Would definitely do this if I'm ever in Utah again!

This was an absolute awesome canyon and lightly traveled. We did canyoneering through here and it was a ton of fun. Interested twists and turns, stunning views, and interesting drops. Would definitely recommend this spot and can't wait to go back.

Almost 5 star. Drive the speed limits posted; you do NOT want to be pulled over in this neck of the woods.

This trail requires scrambling over rocks and has recently been the scene of flash flooding. The surrounding gulch seems to evidence real time geological changing (you can see where there have been several slides). It's amazing that the trail is still there and not disappeared. Very nice end-point with lush garden, including ferns, moss, and hanging garden from cliffs. The walls as you approach the narrows do look reminiscent of the The Subway in Zion. We were unable to climb up because of the flow of water. There was also a cool fissure in the ground which was completely full of water--about 3' wide and at least 8' deep (couldn't see bottom). Stay left & high on the trail--the numerous spurs off it going to the right just go to the creek. There is at least one place that looked impassable but by walking around a bit you can see where the foot prints are and where to scramble around it.

This hike can be extended by hiking up to Water Canyon then continuing up a trail to the left side of the canyon and hiking around to the east to Squirrel Canyon and back to the starting point.

The trail is actually located just outside Hildale, Utah .... Not Hurricane.
The road to the trailhead is not maintained and may be impassible in bad weather. A high clearance is a must!
It is a popular trail for the local community and also used for rappelling training. Very busy in the summer. Parking can be an issue when it's busy. Don't park where you can be blocked in or u may have a wait when you are ready to leave!
No garbage service at the trailhead so you pack it in.....you pack it out. Do not allow your pet companions to defecate in or near the stream bed. It's a water source for the local community. ( I have seen it happen.)
It is a beautiful area and a nice hike. It is also the starting point for the Tears Drop and Natural Bridge hikes which are much more strenuous but have stunning views of the surrounding canyons. Enjoy!
