September 7, 2018. Hiked Blackhawk trail heading NE from Blackhawk campground road down to Loafer mountain trail head on Nebo Loop road and back. Friday late afternoon and early evening...didn't pass anyone else on the trail. Saw a flock of about 30 wild turkeys. Lots of cows along trail. Moderate inclines and most areas typical of scenery around Nebo mountains. Some sections with large amounts of thistle along the trail.

August 26, 2018 - see my recorded track w/photos. Nice moderate level hike through mix of aspens, evergreens and open meadows. Creek and meadow near bottom end of trail was really beautiful. I started at the Nebo Loop road at the Loafer Mountain trail head, then turned east on the Bennie Creek trail. Well marked and well worn trail, but found it very solitary; after we veered off Loafer Mtn trail we didn't see anyone else on Bennie Creek trail. A few steeper sections as you drop down from Loafer Mtn trail onto Bennie Creek trail but steeper grades don't last long. A few nice panoramic views but mostly trail runs along a pretty valley/meadow down to the gravel road. Stream was completely dry until 2/3 way down valley where lots of springs start to form and by the end near the gravel road there was a good stream flow, even in August. Makes for a nice 'destination' on the hike. One stream crossing that may get you wet feet in early spring, but easily crossed in August without getting wet. Lots of little beaver dams along the way. Total distance from Nebo Loop trail head to end of trail by gravel road and back was 6.7 miles. I will hike this again.

Check out my Recording map w/photos: Blackhawk to Frank Young Canyon, Aug 24, 2018. Blackhawk is a longer trail with several spots that make good out-and-back hikes along sections of the trail. For this hike I started at Blackhawk trail head moving southwest from the parking area on Blackhawk campground road. Decent trail with good mix of aspens, pines, and scrub oak. About 80% in shade. Moderate inclines in some areas but mostly its very modest slopes. Quite a few cows and some cow paths intersect with trail, but the most used looking path is correct route. Pretty views down towards Moroni valley and occasional peaks of Nebo at times along trail. Long pants were helpful on this trail as there was quite a bit of brush and tall weeds along side of trail. I will hike this again. As this segment of the Blackhawk trail drops down then climbs back up I don't know that it would be a very good mountain bike trail.

We took the second access to the trail. The dirt road to the forest area is really rough, but we made it in our sedan. It is a beautiful area.

The wildflowers were beautiful in mid July. Loved every minute of our OHV travel along this road. We were so high up I can see why it's called skyline drive !

This trail is Not for large vehicles, you must pass threw a 40 inch gate to use it. Lots of wild life, bear included.

Great trail, super beautiful. A river flows down the entire side of the trail, there is a part where a tree has been uprooted so where the trail was and you need to cross the stream to get to the other side. We only saw four cows while up there but with all the dung I don't doubt that there is more. The fall colors are amazing here and the sky is very clear. only downside I would say is the road to get there is very VERY narrow and can only fit one car at a time.

Unreal. Views are incredible. Do the loop trail and come back via Jones Ranch Trail. That was the best part

We .ade a loop out of this by taking Beenie creek to Loofer and then peeling off to the upper end of Deer Hollow. Be advised this is a loop for those with grit ! The section of Loofer that we rode was a big cllimd with lots of rock. When you turn off to catch the Deer Hollow trail it's basically a game trail. It leads you to the basin at the top of Deer Hollow where you have to make a very steep rocky decent. It's a prime place for injury if you step wrong. Once in the basin you have to wonder down country on game trails for about a quarter of a mile to reach the official top end of the Deer Hollow trail. Be advised the map app is NOT accurate through this area ! Stay to the west side of the canyon. You will eventually hit an obvious trail that benches out and then falls back down into the canyon. Once it does it's an easy ride or walk back to the road. The Beenie Creek road itself is a primitive forest service road. Narrow, rocky with a lot of low canopy. Made it up there with a truck and trailer by taking it slow and really paying attention. I would only recommend this loop to those looking for a tough workout. I should mention that the views from the upper areas where very pretty and game and wildflowers where there to see.

We may have just come the wrong time of the year (late August) but were discussing how when the flowers were in bloom or the fall colors changing it would be beautiful. I felt like we were driving on easy to drive road that right now were surrounded by very dry landscape.

Hiked only about a mile of this trail from the Loafer Mountain Trail junction. Nice trail but there were a lot of cows in the area

This is an ATV and mountain bike trail. It has some pretty steep grades on it and I would recommend being a intermediate to advanced rider on an ATV before attempting. The scenery is beautiful especially in the summer and fall and you won't be disappointed riding this trail.
