Pools are quite small right now. Great hike with options so we changed it up a little on the return trip

The AllTrails map suggest this trail ends in 0.7 miles, but the excellent and sometimes strenuous trail actually continues for about 1.5 miles from the Tuachan Gate up 600 feet to the saddle and then descends about 0.75 more miles to intersect with the Three Ponds (aka Red Sands) Trail. I suspect the lack of information is due do the trail leaving Snow Canyon and continuing into the Red Cliff Dessert Reserve. For complete information see http://www.redcliffsdesertreserve.com/padre-canyon Great for a March hike.

Parked at Tuacahn, hiked UP to the saddle and then to Fern Gully. Point A to Point B and they shuttled the vans.

Very nice hike
Not far from SG
Nice view
The rocks formation is fantastic

Trail is mostly on red sand and slick rock.
Fun scramble and amazing views. We went after the rain and there was still standing water places, but you can make your way around these. First time here and well worth $10 entrance fee.
A long bike path in the park also.

This was a fun afternoon hike. Some issues with this is the trail name is wrong. There is no Fern Gully trail head. You need to park at the “Red Sands/Hidden Pinyon” trail head. Fallow till you see the Hidden Pinyon trail split and go that way. You will end up coming back on the Red Sands trail and continue to the Padre Canyon split. This will take you back to where the so called Fern Gully. It was a great hike and will do this again.

great view!

Just after a storm waterfalls running and a little snow. It was eye candy!!

Very peaceful canyon...cools off quickly when the shade hits.

Better wear your "sticky shoes" for this bizarre trail that takes you up onto the slick rock mounds. Very odd trail marked with metal half domes nailed into the rock. A definite one to redo! We got on this from Red Sands, connecting to Butterfly and on to Lava Tubes for our return via white rocks and Gila.

we only did part of the trail and we're nowhere near the theatre. we found it off Red Sands and went as far as the REALLY cool Rocky dead end with a drizzle of a water pooling. The trail continues on up a Sandy bank and heads out (so we were told by another hiker). we backtracked to Red Sand then Petrified Dunes which was really a bizarre trail.

This is one of my favorite hikes I’ve ever done, because of the lava tubes towards the end. You can climb into the tubes/caves pretty far, and it is a super cool experience! But be careful in the tubes and bring water! Keep in mind there is no shade, only really in the tubes and they’re still pretty warm, so be hydrated, and protected. It’s located in Snow Canyon, so there is a small fee to explore the State Park.

Nice trail, gorgeous view. The wall on the cone and the rock structure inside the volcano make the hike worth it. A bit slippery but definitely doable and very enjoyable.

This is a gorgeous hike on a cloudy day. It is pretty strenuous, especially if you decide to descend past the saddle to find a waterfall that occurs when it rains. Once you get over the saddle, there will be a wash, then a small hill, then the creek that you follow off to the left to find a small pond and drizzling waterfall that are quite tranquil.

Short trail but good to do. The hike around to the back of the volcano is easy but then it goes straight into the top. Great views of the red and white rocks of Snow Canyon Park.

I loved this trail, even though it's not one where you're getting scenery all along the way. I just happen to enjoy walking among the pinion. I would rate it as Easy, it's well marked and the rocks are easy to get around. We did it on Dec 31 so the temperature was great, though a bit windy. A scarf would be good to bring along. Curious dogs got a snootful of cactus thorns but they were fairly easy to pick out.

Beautiful hike with an amazing view at the end! Mostly sand and sturdy rocks, but it's an easy trek. Loved that I could bring the pups!

on Hidden Pinyon

Get the brochure and read about the plants and geological features as you go.

This is our favorite trail in the park. The Red Sands part is average for Snow Canyon. When you turn off onto Hidden Pinyon it gets good. There is one very cool point where there is a 30 or so inch drop. Those able to handle a jump like that should have no problem. Older folks and pre-teens will have to sit and slide down. The trail twists and turns changing the scenery and light constantly.

Going to the Snow Canyon Overlook is definitely worth the time it takes! I strayed from the trail and spent some time hiking on the White Rock which made the views worthwhile!

great hike with a beautiful ending result.
highly recommend

As others have said, the walk to the end is quite rocky, but not hard. Very nice long walk to wonderful views of the canyon.

Breathtaking view at the end. We didn't know what to expect and were very positively suprised. Would do this hike again in a heartbeat. The hike itself is fairly easy and not too long, but the view!!!

This was a great hike, as mentioned above not a ton to look at during the hike, but the overlook is amazing. So worth it! Lots of steps so watch your footing:)
