BEAUTIFUL VIEW

My boyfriend and I did this hike and loved the views along the way. It’s a moderate hike with multiple trails labeled as “Thor’s Hideout” that weave and cross paths throughout the hike that can add to the experience. The trail head is labeled “Red Hollow”.

Started this trail at 9am on a sunny November morning. Patches of ice and a snow field situated on the downward slopping section of the trail made for a nerve-wracking hike in some sections. Should have brought the yaktracks (and ended up going off trail for a portion due to the slippery paths). Views are absolutely spectacular, though. Enjoyed having the trail to ourselves (unlike in Bryce Canyon NP).

It’s unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable. A largely unknown gem that rivals Zion Narrows, Kanara Falls and any other slot canyon for that matter in my opinion. It’s a few miles down rattlesnake or a couple miles from the Cedar Canyon coal creek overlook. It’s unreal back there and you likely won’t see any people!

nice slot canyon at the upper end of hike. beautiful foilage for fall colors.

Very scenic and pretty drive in the fall. Lots of colors. Road is bumpier the last 2 miles but any truck or suv will be fine if it’s dry. Old shack, creek, and redwood tree are worth the drive in. You will likely see deer if early or later in the day

amazing moderate hike with spectacular views of cliffs and narrows. The sculpted sandstone formations are breathtaking.

We stayed the night in Cedar City after visiting Bryce and Zion. This is the PERFECT hike to end the weekend before heading back to Vegas to fly out. This is a pretty easy hike. There are no markings but you can easily follow the trail. The water follows the trail most of the way so if it’s a fresh rain it may be pretty muddy. Fitbit said we did 4.93 in 3:49 with numerous stops.

Definitely an intense workout. I ran up and down the trail in about 2 1/2 hours. The first part of the trail is the steepest and a lot of switch backs. The views over Cedar City are pretty great, but if you're only doing it for the views, shuttle your way to the top and hike down. The hike down is very easy. Almost all down hill. If just hiking and not running, I would plan 4 hours to go up and down.

Fun easy trail. Do this one the first half of the day then cool down hiking Kannara Falls the second half! Be sure to bring enough water, it’s a long hike that’s sometimes very hot.

A couple of turns on this trail are a little tricky to stay on course but will no quickly that a turn was missed.

Exposed to sun and a late morning start will get warm.

Good for dogs since not very popular. There are good sections for running and sections where best to walk due to rocks— at least for me.

Nice short walk through the woods. end of the trail has a decent overlook of the top of the Zion plateau in the distance. Very easy trail.

Nothing dramatic to see other than the lookout, but an easy family walk with plenty of flowers & insects along the way for little ones on a summer day.

Spectacular views!

Not a hike. This is 100% spectacular views for miles and miles. Just a short jaunt from the Visitor Center. We got lucky and was there for the Wildflower Festival in July 2018. So many flowers in bloom!!!! But the views of Cedar Breaks is awe inspiring!!!

Easy walk to an overlook with great views of the park.

Loved this hike, but it's not for the faint of heart. The unsupported trail from Ramparts thins the crowds (we never saw anyone else), and if you just patiently keep going you get to the arches. When reading the reviews we were unsure whether we should follow the ridge line (very steep and dangerous) or go down on the river bed (safer but much less visibility). It turned out that the final 1/4 mile has a nice trail that you stumble upon from the river bed. That's the way we'll do this in the future. :)

This is a short, paved trail with no elevation gain that goes to a view point, more of a walk than a hike. Many people walk up to the view point, glance in and leave. This, I feel, shortchanges this view. There is so much to look at in the canyon if one has patience, time, and maybe binoculars. Did you see the arch? :D I am sure there is more to see.. we may go back again and do some more staring! :D

There is also another paved trail that turns off this trail that goes along side the canyon to the campground.

Nice trail close to town.

I opted to start at the bottom in the city... much more gratifying to hike up and enjoy the view...according to my tracking it was more like 9.5 miles!!! Start early ... it gets hot quickly!!!

Nice little hike. Beautiful view at the end. Is just a VERY short hike.

I really enjoyed this hike! I started at the bottom and the first bit was pretty simple. Towards the top it gets a bit steeper but you can feel that you’re getting close to the end. I swear I was almost at the end for the last forty minutes. Definitely not the easiest trail but the sunset was amazing. I recommend hiking it in the late evening right before sunset it’s gorgeous.

I did this starting from the trailhead off of Hwy 143, just before you enter Cedar Breaks National Monument, which is the popular method for people who have left a car on Hwy 14 at the end of the trail. I did not have a car at the bottom, so I went about 3.3 miles downhill and turned around after walking through a long grassy meadow, just before starting a steep descent. Going back up was harder than I though it was going to be, maybe because of the altitude. There are many, many trees down across the trail, but nothing you can't get around fairly easily.

The next day I tried to find the start of the trail off of Hwy 14, so I could climb up to the point where I turned around the day before. But as the person below says, that was a gate for a jeep road posted as the SUU Mountain Center. Later, looking carefully at the maps, this does appear to be the lower access point to the trail, and I guess you can park somewhere along the road.

Just a blink away from town and an easy hike through!

It is a beautiful place! It was a little confusing with the signs to Thor's hideout pointing all different ways. It is a loop with no actual place being "Thor's hideout"... I guess it is the whole area. I did find "Thor's chair".
