You don’t need 4 wheel drive for this one. Lots of people doing the drive in rental cars. Very scenic throughout. Great campsites along the way. Remote.

Amazing views the entire way but if you get to the end, a real treat. Seeing the river so far below is hard to describe.

We got there just after sunset so the colours were vivid.

Drove it in a stock Cherokee Trailhawk with no problems. A couple of bumps to the underside but no big deal. The last kilometre gets pretty rocky. Vehicles with more clearance and larger tires will laugh at this.

A great little trip.

On Dec. 23, 2017, we went up about 6 miles (entered from the West at Rte. 275)... enough to see a closer view of the Bears Ears Buttes.... it was passable in our Volvo xc70 station wagon.. no issues. A few patches of snow on that day, small ice patches. We went up on Dec. 23. As I am not from the area, I always suggest for you to ask around for the road condition before going up..... The road was quite dry, and any mud that was there had been hardened due to snow cover. If it's muddy, it'd be hard to impassable in areas, I'd imagine. Keep in mind that cell service is spotty to non-existent in this area.

Spent Thanksgiving night camping under the stars. Stunning! Easy drive when dry although there are a few sections of bad washboarding (the road gets a lot of use). The better camping spots are along the eastern half of the road.

excellent interesting trail with a rewarding overlook

The view of this feature from the west looking east is incredible. It is an interesting place to hike around with many ancient ruins and petroglyphs and other artifacts. Spend a day here driving or biking and then exploring.

fun so much fun

beautiful area to spend many days in. There are a few easy top rope climbs at the mouth and a big petroglyph panel near the mouth. the canyon is awesome and has many great archeological sites.

mountain biking

This is mainly a 4 wheel drive trail. We were the only mountain bikers on the trail. Saw maybe 4-6 jeeps on the whole ride. It is pretty steep near the trail head with some technical rocky parts. The rest of the trail was fun. We ran into a lot of sand when we went which slowed us down. Way worth the view at the overlook however. Make sure to start at elephant hill and turn right at forks on the way out.

We did this trail late in the evening, starting off US163- Mexican Hat-Bluff; and came out on SH261 just south of the Moki Dugway. Very Scenic!

I off-roaded on this trial this summer and it was awesome! It does take a while to get to from Moab since you must travel all the way to Canyonlands National Park but it was worth it. Very nice and technical trail where 4 wheel drive is a must, and having high ground clearance will help.

There are some parts of the trail where you HAVE to drive backwards because the switchbacks are to narrow but it is easy. And there are also some narrow sections, and I mean NARROW! You have to actually pull in your mirrors or else you risk scraping those on the rocks! So just make sure you have a spotter or are very careful!

Rode this trail on a motorcycle many years ago from the end of the road in the Needles District of Canyonlands through Bear Ears pass to UT95 highway. Sometimes the road is impassable because its steep and rocky in places. But not much of a problem on motorcycles

Back in March, backpacked down to campsite SC3. Freakin rough trip, but extremely worth it. Four Faces pictograph is down there, as well as other pictographs that are category 2. Can't wait to go back, but maybe at a later time because there was ice in the tent when we woke up.

A sandy/rocky trail that starts at the visitor center Needles district of Canyonlands NP. The last couple of miles are pretty rough, but you can hike that part. Views of the Colorado River.

on Arch Canyon Trail

Arch Canyon trail starts approximately 2.4 miles north of UT Hwy 95 off Comb Wash road. This is a sandy trail that crosses the wash numerious times as it winds between steep canyon walls. There's Cliff Dwellers ruins and Petroglyphs a few places along the way. Length is 8 miles from the begining to end of the canyon (the turnaround point) We went on the 12th of May and it was hot! This would be a nice winter hike. High clearance 4WD required if driving.

This was a fun drive and if the road is dry you can drive a rental no problem. The road is dirt and red gravel, bumpy and washboard in spots, but you are in the middle of the desert and can see some pretty nice rock formations. Not as spectacular as Monument Valley, and expect to wash your vehicle after driving it.

We were staying in Mexican Hat, UT. Along with my sons Ron and Bob, we Jeeped the 18 mile dirt road. The area looks like a miniture Monument Valley, very scenic. And was it hot!

We were in the neighborhood of Blanding UT, and decided to take a look at the canyon. We only went as far as the Arch, we did not do the whole 18 mile hike. Most memorable thing, it was hot! But any hike in Utah, is worth the effort.
