Fantastic hike, well worth the effort to get there. Took my 2 kids (10 & 14) and though they were tired going up, the lake was their favorite! Would definitely do this hike again. Make sure you bring 3+ liters of water! So many people on the trail today ran out while still high up. One gentleman was completely out of water on the upper switchbacks and nearly fell off a steep incline right in front of us! We were able to grab him in time, sit him down, give him some water, electrolytes and a fruit bar, and he was apparently okay, but they had no food and he looked to be in serious shock. Though a relatively short hike, it’s hot and strenuous at times. Loved it!

I love this hike. So beautiful and a great escape from the heat. Amazing views and the best reward; silver lake.

Got an early start to this hike (around 7-8) and it was a little chilly. The first 1/3 of the hike is in a beautiful aspen forest. Couldn’t get enough of the foliage! The hike then opens up and you’re able to see some beautiful views of the back of timpanogos. After a short steep section to the top, we were rewarded with a view of the amazing lake. It was around 9 at that point but the lake was warm enough that I took a quick swim. Beautiful clear lake! As we descended it got really crowded so I suggest if you want to have this lake to yourself come early.
All in all one of my favorite hikes out there.

Wonderful trail! The lake is crystal-clear. If you want to avoid crowds, go early in the morning.

awesome

Great hike! Be sure to bring lots of water, and if you're going to bring your dog, pack them lots of water too if it's hot. About half way up the tree cover is very sparse and it can get hot in the summer.

Amazing hike! This is definitely one of our favorite.

Not a bad hike. About 1.75 miles up from the main trailhead. Took me roughly 30 min to the lake with a mixture of trail running and hiking. I would give this hike a 4* if it weren’t for the road access. I would rather hike to a lake that has only one way to it...foot. Also, the total ascent was only 886 from the trailhead. Total time 1:03. Oh and there was a dead horse on the trail.

The hike from silver lake up to silver glance is pretty steep in some areas and it bites! But definitely worth the extra distance to get away from crowds and have lunch.

Hiked this last weekend and it was hot! After the first 1/4 mile, the trail is pretty exposed so try to hike early! The dirt road to get to the parking lot is pretty rough if you have a passenger car. The hike itself is fairly easy.. however, if you choose to hike up to silver glance lake from silver lake.. it climbs 800 feet in 3/4 of a mile so it does take it out of you! Otherwise very pretty and a lot of places to relax around the lake.

Beautiful hike that gets surprisingly hard towards the top. Just be prepared it gets steep the last .5 Miles. Just for that I think it may deserve a Hard rating. The rest is Moderate and pretty shaded overall.

Went on this hike during heat of the day. Thankfully there are water crossings about 5 times spread out along the hike so the pup could take a cold sip and dip. The views are incredible.

Very beautiful hike with amazing views of the many trees and surrounding mountains this time of year. Also, the lake at the end is very rewarding. Pace yourself, bring plenty of water and maybe some snacks. Overall a very pleasant hike.

Tough trail, rock, dirt, fields, forest, you get it all. The app says 7.5 but we clocked it at about 8.5 or so. Some amazing views so worth the effort. The Jeff side of the loop is much tougher than the right side, where we saw several other hikers. Must be commonly used by horses as we dodged several piles of horse poop along the way. Great hike!

Beautiful lake, totally worth it. Bring plenty of water and make sure you have some time to hang out at the top.

I love this hike but I find it’s most beautiful near fall or when snow is out. The water turns a deep teal color and there’s hardly anyone out! Good amount of challenge, most of it being in the last half mile.

Steep and hard with a backpack, but gorgeous and super worth it.

Great hike, mostly in the shade.

2 hours up/1 hour 20 min down with 3 kids (10, 8 and 5.) Your young kids will likely need a pack or be carried some part of the way! (We saw it and experienced it ;). It is steep up with lots of elevation gain. We started at 2:30pm, 95 degree Summer day... it was HOT (yeah, not so ideal). We went through a ton of water. The way down was so much more pleasant with cooler air!! Very beautiful hike though with a fun lake as the end destination. We fished. Many people were swimming, taking a dip and even brought floaties to lounge on the lake during this hot Summer day.

Absolutely loved this hike!!! There were very few hikers at the top and I wish I could have stayed for hours. The mountains were reflective onto the lake. It was absolutely beautiful. Fairly easy hike that took about an hour to go up!

It takes a while to get to starting point (you have to drive 3 miles on a really bumpy dirt road), after you park your car, the journey begins...It took us about an hour to get up to the pretty lake and you get very nice views in your way up. You’ll see a lot of doggies along the trail; it is shady at the beginning and then is very exposed to sunshine, make sure you apply sunscreen and bring enough water. Well worth doing it!!!

Great hike!

Be prepared to pay to get into the Uintas Park. The trail itself is pretty but it's heavily used by both downhill mountain bikers and motor bikes. My dog and I just about got run over several times.

This is one of my favorite hikes to do, it has a beautiful drive up and is a good moderate hike. Usually takes less than an hour to go up (without stopping) and has some good spots for hammocks at the top. Also a good spot for camping as long as you stay off of the trail.

last time we went I couldn't find the trail for this hike .Is that really hard or they have signs.I will try again this month hope o am lucky this time

I personally think this trail deserves a “hard” rating. The last mile is relentless. We started the trail at 7:30am. The first 1/4 to maybe 1/2 mile was shaded. After that... full sunshine and very very hot (and in my opinion quite steep) the rest of the way. I brought 112 ounces of water with me. I ran out before we got back to the car. The lake is beautiful though! Plenty of places to sit all the way around it. I think there were more dogs on the trail than humans. Most not on leashes. If you have options of a truck/jeep I would suggest that over a car. Narrow bumpy ride for a bit once you have to turn off the paved road. Doable in a car though, just be sure to have good tires!

The drive up includes a precarious and very bumpy dirt road, I'm very glad I brought my truck. Park only in designated areas, I got a parking warning and the person next to me got a ticket (probably because they didn't even pay the $6 use fee).
For someone such as myself still on my journey to get in shape and lose weight, the trail got difficult quickly and I easily consumed my entire water reserve (8 cups).
It was 4.8 miles out and back per my fitness tracker and took me 3 hours.
Lots of people bring dogs, there are several opportunities for dogs to hydrate.
The trail is at most times pretty narrow and unless you like bumping shoulders, it often required someone to stand aside and let the others pass.
On the way up there are some breathtaking views, and it was a good journey. The lake is rotten with flies which are an annoyance when you want to relax a bit before heading back down.
The final stretch for me was exceedingly difficult and I felt I wouldn't have pushed through if the reward weren't so close.
Overall I thought it to be a very enjoyable hike, not one I'd recommend for smaller children. Out of shape people may need to work up to this hike, I never could have done it 3 months ago when I was mostly sedentary.

Beautiful hike! Beginning of hike is pretty shaded but then becomes more exposed. Bring lots of water and sunscreen. Was a little steep for our older dog but he made it. We stayed for an hour or two and waded in the lake. saw lots of people heading up with packs. A pretty small lake for how many campers were heading there as their destination. We went on Friday, very busy, can't imagine the crowds on the weekend.

This is a beautiful hike. The wild flowers were starting to bloom (June 27) and the lake was gorgeous. A good mid-range hike.

A great hike. I brought my dog and she loved the lake at the top where we had brunch before heading back down. I am definitely doing it again but want to stay at the lake for longer. I got there around 730 and didn't really see anyone on the way up but by the time we made our way back down the lot was full and I ran into a lot of hikers going up. Be prepared for the drive to the trailhead; very narrow and steep dirt road.
