The trail from Silver Lake to Silver Glance is a little hard to follow, and it’s pretty steep, but worth it.

Didn’t make it all the way to Silver Glance Lake as it was snowing & with the steepness, I opted to turn around after I had a nice view of Silver Lake below.

I enjoyed the hike. I actually did a circle. So far, none of these AllTrails hike show it this way. Started near the Granite Flats campground entrance. Hiked on Trail 43 to Trail 188. About a mile or so, there is an unmarked trail to the Box Elder Peak Summit. I have a GPX to share, if needed. Then hiked back to trail 188 and turned right. Followed that to Trail 44 back to the Granite Flats campground. Most of Trail 188 beyond the Box Elder Peak turnoff is very much overgrown, but not hard to stay on the trail. I loved it, because I was alone most of the day. Here is a Strava Link, if it helps. https://www.strava.com/activities/1168712457

hiked this for a couple miles this morning. fall colors are definitely coming out. love how quiet this trail is and the gorgeous views. we also saw a deer on the hike today.

Shocked by the 4.5 stars. Least favorite hike of the summer. The trail has been badly worn from horses and is extremely loose and rocky. Tons of exposure the whole way. Disappointed in the lake because water level is way down. I strongly recommend just driving to the Silver Lake TH and hiking to Silver Lake.

Started on the Dry Creek Trail. Great views and lots of wildflowers on the back side of Box Elder. Trail gets pretty interpretive between the Dry Creek and Box Elder trails.

We just backpacked and tent camped two separate nights in the last week here with our dog and 4 year old son. It is a fairly easy hike and camping by the lake up top was amazing!!!!

Beautiful and fun for kids!

My wife and I took the dog up this morning to get up to Silver Glance Lake. We got to the trailhead around 8AM and it was still a bit chilly at the start. Once we got up to Silver Lake we were warmed up. The trail starts out very easy and then gains elevation with some switchbacks up to Silver Lake. Lots of people fishing. Hiking to Silver Glance Lake is much more difficult due to steepness, but it's relatively short in length. Got caught in some afternoon rain so maybe bring a rain jacket if you'll be up in the afternoon. A moose was spotted down closer to Silver Lake so keep your dog on the leash!

Such a great hike. Really secluded and beautiful at the top. The views on the way up are incredible. Relatively steep for some parts but well worth the hike.

Always a gorgeous hike!

Beautiful hike with tons of wildflowers. Hiked to the top lake which ended up being 7 miles round trip. The views are best just above the first lake at mile 3. The top lake was neat but better views overlooking the lake below.

Awesome hike. Starting from Silver Lake it's a little steep at first but it gets easier towards the second half. Great views all along the trail. Lots of people on the trail until you get pass Silver Lake and then no crowds.

1 hr to silver lake and another hour up to Silver Glance. From Silver lake it's intense up and down. Glad to say I have been there and the reason I'd do it again are for the views of Silver Lake.

Great trail. Snow is almost gone near the lake. Some open water so it won't be long before it's ice free. Beautiful cirque. Only downside is that we were not the only ones enjoying the hike. Counted over 120 people on the trail between 6:40 and 10:30am

Amazing view. Worth it!

nice narrow trail with few people on it.

Very disappointed that I didn't see any sheep

Great views on this trail as it climbs high on up on the north side of the Canyon. You can see the Tibble Fork reservoir, and Silver Flat reservoir to the south east. My Timpanogos to the South and Box Elder Peak across the Canyon. Moose, Snakes and lizards along the trail and views of a few waterfalls. Saw only three people on the trail. What more could you want?

fun hike lots of snow still and the lake is mostly frozen

Lots of snow, just starting to melt. Way too many people go to Silver Lake these days. At least by continuing on you rid of the masses.

Just went up 6/3/17 with the family and the views where perfect, clear warm day. The last half mile still had snow on the trail so we hiked in the creek or snow melt run off .
Silver lake is still frozen over so didn't get any fishing in.

Challenging but incredible views, beautiful wilderness. Still quite a bit of snow, so it's easy to lose the trail, but I made it to the canyon bottom (the end as described here). Fun snow play there.

It was harder than expected. The incline to crazy but it was a blast. Loved running down it

I was the only person on the trail with my two dogs. It was very quiet and peaceful. Lots of different paths you can take to get different views. I really enjoyed it. I will be back. It was great solitude above the busy tibble reservoir.

Fair warning, USFS advises road access to the trail head will not open until "The 2nd week of June, or so."

The road is closed as part of the reservoir and camp site repairs on the section of road you have to drive through to access Silver Lake. Your alternative is to hike an additional 4 miles or so to reach the trail head from the reservoir parking area.

If you're uncertain, phone first.

Really nice hike. Had to turn back at about 7500 feet when the snow got too deep. I'll definitely be back to finish.

Nice trail that doesn't seem to get a lot of traffic. There's still a lot of snow in some areas but easily passable.

Best way to enjoy this area is to make the hike in spring. Once the road opens up the hordes move in and it's a total madhouse. This is a gorgeous area and a nice moderate hike.
