The Colony, Texas Map

Easy and fun walk. Nice open and wooded areas. Few areas close to water for photo ops. Well manicured trail with 1/4 mike posts, benches and trash cans.

This is a nice paved trail, 3 stars because it gets close to residents back yard and it’s hard to find a place to park. The treescape is beautiful, however, and has one moderately stout elevation change as it applies to paved walking paths in the northern suburbs. The trail bridges up about 75 ft through the tree canopy, beautiful. Houses are further back in this section as well.

This was a great trail for the family.

Great, open sky walk by the lake. You also get to walk past quite a few gorgeous houses. Very peaceful with tons of butterflies. Bring your sunscreen! Not a lot of shade.

It's worth visiting once you get past the golf course. Walking by a golf course isn't as relaxing as a nature trail should be. But after the course it's very peaceful and reaching the lake is a nice moment.

Nice little flat run!

Nice and easy all the way!!

Closed on weekdays for school outings.

Main trail is much shorter than advertised (1.8 miles), but very well maintained. Many of the side trails are poorly maintained or possibly being decommissioned. Nice scenery, but I would have liked more views of the creek which was often just out of sight.

This is an easy hike through low-lying vegetation and a golf course. The trail is well maintained with crushed gravel and is wide enough for multiple people, strollers, bikes. There are a variety of birds among the trees. There is not much shade on the trail. There are ample garbage and recycling bins and some signs explaining the area.
However, if you are looking for an experience of getting away from the feeling of being in a city, this might not be for you. Because the trail starts at a golf course, it is highly manicured and you need to dodge golf carts. Also, it is located on the busy DFW airport flight path. And, although you only see the lake at the very tip of the trail, you can be surrounded by loud water craft (especially on warm days).

Great for beginners! The trail is flat, wide and long. There is a side trail that you can take to restaurants and eat lunch or hang out with friends. Just remember u have to ride back. Take water if u take your pet because there is not an easy way to get to the lake.

It's beautiful but there is some construction on the trail with detours so I got lost in the neighborhood. You really need the map on your phone to help navigate.

Pretty trail (for the DFW area) on the lake. Enjoyed the hiking.

This trail was very easy and offered beautiful scenery. Was able to feel the peaceful seclusion in nature after passing the golf course. Can't wait to hike here again.

This is really just a golf course with a "trail" around it.

Great Lake views and nice houses to see along the way. Easy walk area that is graveled and lightly traveled for privacy convince.

Great trail once you get past the golf course!

Nothing here was particularly scenic. The lake is actually pretty disappointing, as it's fully man made and looks like a mud hole they dug for the WPA. It's a nice distance and pretty open, but it's nothing special. The picture in this post is most definitely NOT of this hike and the muddy brown lake nearby.

Took wife, boy (9), girl (8), and dog full loop. All enjoyed. Would recommend to others. May feel long for those not used to 4+ mile walks but very nice trail.
