Great hike... a little busy... we are baby boomers in 50ies and 60ies and made in in. 2 1/2 hours... do doable if de entry fit... we also started at bottom
And walked up and back... well marked but no restroom or potable water... so be prepared

Amazing hiking trail.

It’s a tough one. We did it last Saturday and took us 3 hours to bottom and then back up. 5 miles of hiking. Great leg workout!

3-16-18 Center and Refuge is open, only the West Riverbottom trail is closed. It is a nice place to hike, close to the city. It's Texas scenery so, nothing fabulous. Couldn't find any prairie dogs, but the bison are easily viewed.

The park was fun but I was expecting more from the reviews however I did not Adventure all of the trails unfortunately, and I didn't have my pup and being an off the leash park I probably would have enjoyed it more with her. the only thing is parts reaked of dog feces and there was feces bags everywhere. idk if that was the rules and park clean up picks them up but I hated that aspect. the water was not clear where I went like the images depected on some pages. However if you are local it's a fun hike.

Well-kept, varied terrain & elevation, scenic trail in the middle of a suburb. Would give it a 5 but very crowded at noon on a weekday—of course, that’s a sign of its popularity, so just the price to pay for a good hike.

such an awesome trail! hiked the 8 miles today with a friend and we had a great time. dirt trail mostly trees about half shaded and a little lake views.

A decent local park with a nice view. I wouldn't fly to it as the main destination, but worth a few moments if near.

Such a blast. Easier than I expected for me and my stock Jeep Wrangler. Very scenic, beautiful trail. Only a couple of spots where actual 4wd was necessary. Look for the spot with the old grave sites on the hill! No signs but looks very historic. Overall, my favorite off-road trail at big bend.

Awesome trail for elevation change, also the views there are spectacular.

Enjoyed the hike. It was a bit busy when I went; however, the trail was very clean.

One of the hardest trails I've done in Austin. None of the stairs are brutal, but there are so many! Would definitely recommend you start at the end with the pond so you can have downhill on the way back.

fun trail, tons of stairs

Great Trail in the Greater Austin area. I parked at the bottom and did the out and back trail, a little over 6 miles according to the signage. Starts out easy, but definitely increases in difficulty closer to the upper trail head. 2,736 steps is no joke. For once the way back down felt a little easier than going up! Took me about 2:40 round trip. (That is with a rest at the top and a few photo ops along the way). Enjoy!

Beautiful nearly all year round. numerous trail entry ways so that you can carry your experience each time you are in the trail.

There are several trails at this park. We did the outside loop trails that came to about 2.5 miles. Loved the hills and rocky trails. The river was pretty and nice to walk along at the end of our hike.

This was a scenic trail that ran along side a river for half the trail and then went up some texas hills. Starting from the bottom, the trail was pretty easy (although muddy from rain) until about halfway when the incline increased to fairly difficult (lots of steps) til the top. This trail took two hours up and back and with a snack break, being a fairly athletic person with a quick pace.

Good for exercise, but not great on sights or beauty. Underwhelmed.

Lived in Big Spring for a couple months back in 2016. Used this trail for running. Not bad! Watch out for cars as many like to not follow the speed limits posted. Parking is limited. Some great views of Big Spring and beyond!

Awesome once again. Will keep coming back.

This is not a trail it is a drive through wild life park. Great park with tons of animals but don’t go expecting to walk or bike a trail.

Cool park. Lots of trails to get lost in. The dog thing. Some owners don’t keep them on a leash. Got nipped, scratched and jumped on and the owner was oblivious. Really do like the place itself though. The creek and cliffs can be really pretty.

Amazing! Coming back to do it again!

really fun trail and well maintained with lots of stairs. It was great for the dog too, but I was bothered by the number of dogs off leash - I counted 18. Minus one star for crowd and off leash dogs, but I still recommend!

First time on this lovely trail today. Harder than most trails I have been on in the greater Austin area due to the elevation gain and frequent log stairs that require longer strides. I noticed some hikers on the trail using trekking poles which could be helpful especially for the 40 yr. old plus hikers like me. Overall a well maintained trail and perfect for fitness training. It is possible to make it a Loop by doing a short road walk at the end heading back toward to the nature trail entrance which reconnects to the main trail.

Clean, beautiful, shaded canopy. Lots of people and dogs. Felt safe. The water there is very clear. Had a great hike. Path is a bit narrow when passing or head on walking.

Beautiful hike with great views of the surrounding hills! It is definitely strenuous due to all of the stairs and elevation climbs. This appears to be a very popular trail now with lots of people entering from both trailheads, and many were accompanied by their pets. If doing a full out and back is too much, you can opt to just follow the main road for about 2 or so miles back to your car once you reach the trailhead.

Beautiful & well maintained out (3 miles) & back
