Ran Dante's Loop there and back starting at Lower Purgatory. Tripped and fell 7 times, mostly on the upper portion. Too many roots and too rocky. Even if I didn't trip and fall, I couldn't enjoy the scenary because of the concentration the trail requires. Not what I am personally looking for with trail running. I might run the Lower portion again but not Upper. It makes for a fine hike though.

The trail was well marked and was not challenging. However, once you get further into the woods it is much more quiet from the traffic and enjoyable to see and hear nature. There are also many alternatives to other smaller trails or take the long loop around.

plenty of additional trails to explore, wear boots

Make sure you have GPS and water. Some parts of the trail are clearly marked and other areas can be confusing. I planned a 4.3 mile hike and ended up doing 6.6 miles. It's a beautiful area so I didn't mind too much. Lower Purgatory has some car noise from Wonder World/ RR12 so I much preferred upper.

Great trail! It was surprisingly cold today, but the hike was great!

I went to this trail in late March and it was a tad muddy so boots are important. Also ran into a hive of bees that we're swarming, perfectly natural for them to do, but also had to turn back and take a cut over on Ovid trail. Please avoid the bees for personal safety, and also to cause as little stress as possible to the hives, as they are in decline.

Trail is a decent length. Especially for the area.

Nice trail, not long, but enjoyable for what it is.

Beautiful trail! I went when the mountain laurels were blooming. Fantastic place if you’re a butterfly enthusiast!

This was one of the nastiest parks I have been to in a long time. Everywhere you look there was dog poop on the ground. So sad to see how this park has turned out in the last year. It used to be a beautiful place to walk my dog. Now it’s absolutely disgusting

I'm glad to have been able to get to the top.

Trail markers are bit confusing. Still great trail to run!

Loved it! Super fun hike, with a good mix of wooded areas and open prairie-like areas. Lots of options for different short trails to explore.

It's easy if you're coming up from the side where the glass bottom boat tours are. However, if coming up from Lime Kiln Rd, or doing a loop and coming back up - there are some steep, rocky hills that'll give your quads a good workout. Aside from that, though, nothing exciting; but, still enjoyable.

Great for your local walk, not worth driving to just to go hiking.

The terrain is a nice mixture with enough smooth surface for running. Great opportunity to make it as long or short of a adventure as you want.

Great trail for Seniors but I would not call it easy. Some where between moderate and easy

good for beginners just like me

A little to close to civilization for me. Maybe a good bike riding trail. Fairly flat. Easy walking. Seems like it's been forgotten. Not well maintained. Hard to find off Hwy 12. The gravel road to it runs along the side of a apartment project. You have to look for the road or you'll miss it. It's OK but I probably won't go back. The Hobbit shelter thing someone buildt was interesting.

needs a little more upkeep. areas are very rough, pointy sharp rocks sticking out of ground where path is. very beautiful.

Half of the trails are closed this time of year. But this wasn't posted until we got there. The trails that are open are nothing but rocks. Watch your feet.

The trail is pretty good overall (I loved it) it's a great trail it's on the NW side of the trail when it gets very challenging.

Wish there was water Carrier there. Other than that perfect place to spend all day

Great park for a nice quick getaway and picnic. Had a run in with several deer and one snake. Man made structures and traffic noise are abundant at the start of the trail at the lower entrance but once you get up, over, and down into the bowl area it's not so bad. Didn't make it to the northern part of the park but will certainly be back to explore.

Great trail.

The trail was not too bad. I parked at a church off of Old Hwy 80 because I did not immediately spot the park access road. That's ok because the Spur trail led me to the main trails. The hike was not too bad. Watch out for those pesky thorns!
