Good moderate urban trail! Easy to get to and a lot of fun to hike.

It’s outdoors.... but little to get excited about. Very little elevation change, scenery changes from tree cover to desert. Some of the rocky parts could make mountain biking uncomfortable.

No views to speak of.... one part you are above the creek, but there’s no water, and nothing to really see.

Suggested for meditation, but not sightseeing.

Good ride with rolling hills. Apparently I went the wrong way, starting on the east side of the park with kinda steep climbs and gradual declines. several spur options. Nice tree cover. It rained last night and is a bit muddy today but not bad. Will return.

But y B.B.

A staple of respite from the grind.

Rough rocky hike but enjoyed it

The San Marcos Riverwalk trail, while providing a decent orientation of available recreational activities along the river, was shorter than we prefer. Additionally, we were hoping for a trail that closely paralleled the river with more nature and less urban scenes.
All in all, the trail wasn’t bad and was pretty deserted and quite early in the morning that is probably ideal for a leisurely walk.

Can’t get enough of this trail. Not crowded at all but when you come across someone they are super nice

The trail was well marked and was not challenging. However, once you get further into the woods it is much more quiet from the traffic and enjoyable to see and hear nature. There are also many alternatives to other smaller trails or take the long loop around.

plenty of additional trails to explore, wear boots

Great trail! It was surprisingly cold today, but the hike was great!

Beautiful trail! I went when the mountain laurels were blooming. Fantastic place if you’re a butterfly enthusiast!

This was one of the nastiest parks I have been to in a long time. Everywhere you look there was dog poop on the ground. So sad to see how this park has turned out in the last year. It used to be a beautiful place to walk my dog. Now it’s absolutely disgusting

I'm glad to have been able to get to the top.

Loved it! Super fun hike, with a good mix of wooded areas and open prairie-like areas. Lots of options for different short trails to explore.

It's easy if you're coming up from the side where the glass bottom boat tours are. However, if coming up from Lime Kiln Rd, or doing a loop and coming back up - there are some steep, rocky hills that'll give your quads a good workout. Aside from that, though, nothing exciting; but, still enjoyable.

not much of a trail, but easy to access from my girlfriend's apartment so we hike it a lot and enjoy it!

The San Marcos Area Trail Walkers hike this river trail often. We are a Meetup. We park our cars at the SM Activity Center, hike over to the Discovery Center on I-35 and then go back. Very enjoyable hike. Join us!

we've frequented Spring Lake Natural Preserve as a group for hiking and have been just about every season and each time we find something new ... we love that its not a busy trail but its saddens us at the same time that more people aren't aware of this little treasure. This Saturday we actually came upon some trails we had not seen before - Cascade and porcupine ... well we did several even some trails not listed.... started on Tonkawa - blind salamander- blue stem- porcupine and cascade I'm sure I'm missing one somewhere oh the short wickups one as well -- so much to experience the best 5.15 miles I've spent on a sm trail we shall return again and again -
