hiked this one once before and LOVED it highly reccommend to anyone looking to explore. il be coming back very soon to run and get back into shape as well. anyone up for partner runs??

The company that build this little stretch of trail was Myers construction. I was the super, the forman, the surveyor, and one of the equipment operators. we cleared the land, build the concrete, the parking lot, i was there from start to finish. First and foremost yes the trail is ADA approved, which was a straight challenge. When building this trail that was pretty much the biggest requirement, of course past the returning the park grounds back to a natural landscape. the reason for the trail to be built with way is for one major reason. that is so people with walking disabilities, who enjoy nature, still have the opportunity to have a place to enjoy. for me... i love this trail for one major reason, it is a perfect bombing hill on a longboard. if you skateboard and are looking for a hill to bomb... this one is perfect. turns just tight enough to give excitement, slope perfect, give her a try you wont be disappointed.

Beautiful trail with a few spots overlooking the area. Nice scenic route. Some parts have an incline and a decline but not difficult for an active hiker even on the difficult trail.

It is an enjoyable trail with a mixed topography of rocks, dirt and exposed tree roots. There are a couple of moderately steep inclines, but not too challenging so children and dogs can make trip. This is my go-to for trail running as well.

The history and the scenery make this a great experience!

Good for a family stroll after a visit to the Alamo or a date night. Be kind to the homeless and take some spending money. Biggest detractor is if you are pushing a stroller or are not as mobile, finding ramps or in service elevators to change levels to cross bridges becomes a challenge.

Not so much a hike that we hoped for. Really turned into a 5 mile walk at a good pace for cardio. Pretty surroundings, abundant wildlife , trail was paved the entire way. Nice, clean, safe and plentiful parking. Probably would not go again though.

we got there early, GPS took us to the deer loop spot and we started walking realized we we're back at the car quick. had to download map to know where to go. signs got confusing at times. but it was kept up well. it was nice. my daughter and I went and all of the holes were friendly on the trails. the view from the top is awesome. felt great. definitely would go back.

Nice shaded trail with a good amount of elevation changes. Several spots where the views are nice. I recommend bringing water since there is none except at the trailhead. Even if the parking is full once you get of the main loop you will be alone for most of the hike.

Great scenic trails. Not too much shade from the sun, so I'd recommend going on a nice fall day or an overcast day.

Love this trail -go early this time of year to beat the heat & the crowds. We arrived at 6:15 am today and gates were open even though it was still pretty dark. I appreciate that they open the park early this time of year.

Was fun. The terrain was easy with minor rocky climbs

Great views and little traffic. Easy to bike.

was able to get this and a little more completed today before it got to hot. Always enjoy the trails here with the extra climbing to get some exercise in a short hike. Very necessary here in San Antonio during our long summers.

Great trails with plenty of tree cover and steep hills. We've hiked as little as 2 miles and up to 8 miles. Rocky terrain so wear good hiking shoes/boots.

I run here from my house which is a mile away. It is a great place to get some hills and enjoy the beautiful scenery up to the top where you there is a great view of the city which is a nice reward for your climb. There are benches at the top and water as well if you want to sit and enjoy the view for a spell.

good trail for a quick hike.

Great road bike trail little traffic!

Took Main loop. It’s a quick 45 mins walk. Lots of trail options available. Have to come back and explore.

Park is closed Tuesday. Wednesday, and Thursday

Small and quite trail that is pet friendly.

The beginning was a little boring, but the second half was worth it!

I completed this trail on 28 April 2018… Even though it shows in my history, it does not show I completed it here. This was a spectacular trail, I and based on camp Bullis and only came to Fort Sam when I needed to. It was great to see it through the trail provided on this app because I saw so much I never would have seen. The grave of Pat the horse, the site of the first army flight, the museums and my favorite was the Quadrangle. I meant to run this trail, but I stopped so many times just so I could see everything. This really is a fantastic base.

For those who wind up on the ADA approved paved trail and find themselves disappointed... look a little harder to find the singletrack. It’s the trail with orange paint markings. It crosses the paved trail once and the mulch trail once. The ADA trail is 0.73 miles long and the singletrack is 3.11 miles long crossing the powerline road twice.

it was fun but it is Rocky

Remarkably handsome for being smack dab in civilization so-called. There is a striking variety of greenery and, if you hear a rustle in the forest, chances are decent it is a rabbit. The paved incline is steep enough for a nice gain that given its short distance you can master in short order. As others have mentioned, there is a network of side trails that take you up forest gains that are more challenging than the paved incline. The highlight, though, is 'The Hill,' a jagged rise exposed to the sun that hits you hardest as you are reaching your limit. The proper way to master this climb is to repeat it so there is no doubt who goes out on top. Just do not try this after a heavy lunch.

Loved this trail

Nice trail to ride. Love the trail and the views.
