Beautiful trail.... took about total 5 hours with stopping for pics and a couple snack & water breaks. The incline is gradual. Nice trail would definitely do it again and camp at the Wilderness Backcountry campsites

Pretty uneventful. The trail was paved and there wasn't much to see. The spring is just a little pond basically. We were there in May and there was no wildflowers and we didn't really see any wildlife. I would say to use your time elsewhere in the National Park unless you are looking for something super short and quick.

Excellent trail. Did this one in late March. Quite windy at times especially on the exposed cliffs. Pack for all weather conditions. We got to the top at camped at Wilderness Ridge where it hailed on us quite a bit. Chilly, upper 20's at night.

Nice hike to the springs. Many wildflowers in the summer and nice views of the surrounding mountains.

The trail is okay. Definitely easy for those with limited mobility. What made the outing awesome is the ranch buildings and the incredibly knowledgeable park ranger. I took my son this spring, right after he turned 16, and we made a day of it at the park. Touring the buildings and talking with the park ranger made our day. We learned so much and I'm just sorry that I cannot remember the ranger's name.

Although it was May when I walked this trail, the day was not too hot, and the wind refreshed me a lot. At this time of the year the dessert plants begin to bloom, and this made my trip more interesting. It was not easy to walk on this steep and rocky trail, but once at the top, the trail in the forest and the beautiful views helped me to forget those obstacles. A herd of 6 deer in the forest along with the beautiful dessert flowers was also part of the fascinating landscape. This was a long and somewhat difficult trail but also was a very nice experience.

This trail is just outside of the McKittirck Canyon Visitors Center. It lis a .8 mile loop through the desert scrub to get you acquainted with the plants of the area.

Very nice trail, rocky and difficult in some sections, but with beautiful views of the mountains and the McKittrick canyon. Once we were at the top, walked on the pine tree forest trail and stopped near the reef on the rocks contemplating the magnificent landscape, we said that it was worth the effort.

Great Hike for west texas. It is an easy hike with minimal elevation gain....definitely go in the fall when the leaves and foliage are changing colors and you will be amazed!

This trail is part of the loop on the east side just past the ranch. Early settlers used the spring as a lifeline for survival and also recreation. Entering the pond is prohibited of course, since it's basically a historic site.

This trail in on the way to Smith Spring. I believe it was a rancher's pond before the park was there. Lots of birds
