Great views, especially if you go past the balanced rock and scramble up the other side. Super easy.

We hiked this trail Dec 8, 2018. Despite the rainy cold weather, we went ahead and did this hike anyway. Glad we did.
Easy hike till the last .25 mil mark. That’s where it’ll start to get steep and rocky. On the way down it was slippery and somewhat difficulty to go down but as long as you’re going slow and use common sense you’d be fine!

Definitely a must. One of our highlights.

Beautiful scenery! We were able to get our Badge of Honor (mobile app for Jeeps) fun trail but only one obstacle.

Hike to the waterfall was interesting. As people mentioned the dirt road getting to the hike is okay if you have a high clearance vehicle. We did see a bear both coming and going -he was just off the trail ( about 1/2 mile from the waterfall)

Black Gap has some definite pucker spots but doable if you take it slow. I ran the trail in my 2017 Jeep Wrangler JKU Rubicon with no issues to get the Jeep Badge of Honor. Follow IG @dirtydeeds_jku

Great hiking trail. I little more strenuous than I expected but not horrible. The last little bit is steep. Saw a lot of bear scat on the trail and saw two bears.

Great short hike that leads you to Balanced Rock. There is some climbing to get there, but so worth it. If you are a photographer, this is a great place for sunrise!

This was a fun off road trail. If you are planning on camping back here start early as the drive is quite lengthy. We stayed overnight on Talley right off the river. The long drive was well worth it but if you plan to drive all the way down Talley to the Rio Grande I would recommend having a four wheel drive vehicle with high clearance. there were a couple deep obstacles that I wasn't sure our truck would make it over. A nice jeep would have no problem. We were very secluded the entire time only passing a few other vehicles the entire drive.

Took the auto trail to dagger flat. You drive about 15-20 miles and turn around to go back the same way. No traffic this trip so never had to move over for passing vehicles. I would not pull a trailer back there. I was in a 4wd GMC crew cab but never left 2 wheel drive. It was bone dry. As I neared the mountain at the back the temp dropped and dark clouds appeared overhead. Conditions can change in a flash. Spotty 3g cell service on this trail. It was enjoyable.

I was recording but something happened to it. You can do this in one hour if you don’t walk too slow. We did it at sunset and it is amazing. I would love to go back and play on all the rocks. Lots of beautiful rock formations.

An amazing number of ecosystems within a small area.

We did this trail in February, 2018. It was a blast. Traveled from the south to the north; the big step was a descent. There was a marshy section near a spring @ the end. When you clear this look hard right for a hill to get off of the trail. Completed in a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk.

Great fun and actually needed 4 low on two occasions. Beautiful sights.

Easy trail.

Short easy trail, beautiful rock formations!

as far as I could tell once I arrived it was only for dirt bikes and I couldn't tell how it could be an 11.1 mile trail. waste of gas after driving from the other side of Houston
