Great trail, lots of routes and plenty of things to do. Nice scenery. You can go walking, jogging, running and biking. You can bring your dogs. You can camp. No payment fees for use. Trails are well maintained. They have several dirt ramps that are massive and several biking courses.

Went early on a monday, very few people. This is the second trail the wife and I have been on since we started hiking this month. It had what I was looking for. Scenic, spend most time in wooded areas, moderate dirt trails, open fields elevation changes, some obstacles, a nice running creek and small wooden bridges. Just did 4 miles today. Only past 3 bikers and was easy to stay out of the way and share a friendly greeting. It seems you can also enter the trails from any designated camp site. We will certainly be back to do more exploring.

This train is pretty awesome. As far as the particular area you won’t get much better than this. I hiked it for the first time yesterday. It is a bit unclear as to where you should start or end. It was also pretty obviously build for bikers but it does allow hikers as well. I found out along the trail that they intended for walkers to go one way and bikers to go the other. Didn’t realize this until I saw a sign 2 miles into the hike. Love the wooded areas. A couple of the open areas have a pretty obnoxious amount of switch as for no reason wide out in the open. But overall I defiantly plan to return and the problems I faced were fixed just by one through hike of the 8 mile loop.

Was nice hike with the dog. Not bad with the recent rain. Plenty of places to explore. Not many out. Wooded part of trails were awesome.

Seems as though the MTB trails are being re routed in favor of hikers and walkers. The trails are being detoured into the open fields and out of the tight twisty single track through the trees in places. I have been riding this trail for 15 years. Seems a shame that the pioneers that keep and maintained the trail all these years are being second guessed for a different agenda . Or maybe the beginner riders are just making it easier to ride. Please tell me its not so.

We recently moved to McKinney, and discovered Erwin Park. We're hikers, not bikers, but love the trail. It appears that the way the trail was designed was for walkers to go one direction and bikers the other on the same trail - so walkers can see bikers coming and move off the trail?

Well maintained trail system that has a mix of wide open flowy parts and really tightly woven single-track through the trees. Definitely worth a ride or three.

I went hiking here to check out the trails and campsites. It seems ok for a day hike or camping with small children. Quite a bit of mowed areas (seems like a waste to me). The campsites are pretty far apart compared to most cul de sac campgrounds but right up next to the road with no privacy. The trails are well kept and pretty easy, only a few steep hills. Seems like a great spot for mountain bikes. I probably won't camp here but it's within the city, so I'll be back to stretch my legs on occasion.

My go-to home trail on DORBA... not as challenging as Big Cedar Wilderness but close to home and has a great vibe that touches your soul when you're riding thru it.

The Erwin Park Trail system is a diverse one with a nice mix of shaded and open field areas. We hiked the day-after rain, so some of the trail areas under the trees were a little challenging. The trail system is big enough so you don't feel crowded in with a lot of other people; or stuck following slower folks; or, in the way of ones going faster. No snake or wildlife sightings, although there were plenty of large bobcat tracks. Erwin Park is billed more as a mountain bike than trekking/hiking trail, but we felt it was good for either.

Looked like a good spot for bikes. Trail is too narrow and rutted in spots for good hiking. Had to get out of the ruts/trail and walk in the grass several times because the bed of the trail was too narrow for foot traffic. FYI Bathroom buildings were locked. Lots of switch backs even in the fields. Lots of trail in a small area. Geared for bikes.

It's a good looking park, trails are marked and easy to follow, but being a dorba trail, it's full of bikes, and the trails are geared towards it. It does look like a fun and challenging bike trail. Even for a February Sunday it was relatively busy, lost count of how many bikes I saw. As a side note, all the bathroom buildings were closed, and it can be a little hard to find a spot.

It's an excellent place to ride bikes! Trails are too narrow for walking on!

The trails needed some grooming for walking but probably perfect for bike. The rest of the park was pretty beaten up and I didn't feel comfortable.

Beautiful, clean trail. Watch for bikers. They move fast through some areas with some semi-blind corners. Over all it's a great spot, well maintained and lots of areas to stop for a picnic.

One of my favorite places to hike in north Texas area. It's not over populated and there's plenty of different trails to check out. You have to watch out for the bikers because some are going pretty fast, but has never really been a big issue as of yet.

Beautiful trail and well taken care of. One small section was flooded due to a recent storm but had no problem getting around. Already have recommended to multiple people. I'll come back to hike this trail again.

Not sure why this site says the loop is 5.3 miles. The actual distance is closer to 8 miles.

Great for Texas Mountain Biking Or hiking.
