This is probably my favorite of the trails here at LLELA. Not sure where All Trails get the 3.1 miles from but it’s a 1.5 mile loop trail. It is $5/car/day to access these trails. Worth the money in my book.

Pretty muddy and not clearly marked. Obviously was recently flooded. I feel like it’s a nice trail if it gets some post flood maintenance done to it. Wasn’t able to do the whole trail as at times I couldn’t tell if I was on the trail or not and too muddy.

All in all, not a bad trail. On a hot day it’s nice to switch to this one for shade to help cool off. It is $5/car/day to access these trails. Worth the money in my book.

Just a short trail connecting a kayak launch area with another walking/hiking trail. It is $5/car/day to access these trails. Worth the money in my book.

Very muddy. One part under water enough we had to forage around. Saw a big bobcat though! So make noise!

Lived in HV 20 years & never knew this trail existed. It was great and the forest was beautiful. You’re really in the thick of a forest & it feels a million miles away. However, this trail is poorly marked & completely overgrown. Boy Scouts have left signage & markers years ago but they are washed out & illegible. I was actually a bit spooked hiking this solo, as I had to divert off path bc of fallen trees or overgrown plants. Could not find the end of the trail, ended up turning back. I went around the opposite way & found that the end of the trail had been totally overgrown. Ended up walking 2.5 miles on this 1 mile hike. If you start in the parking lot at Lakeside Community Park, the trail requires you to cross a busy street & hop over a metal barrier. I suggest starting at Bruce Lockhart Lions Club Park. The trail entrance is a few steps down Chisholm Street on the right. Beautiful trail, needs some TLC!

Hiking

Beautiful trails with wildflowers and marsh. This trail is part of the Llela environmental learning center and has many others around it as well as fishing. Addition is $5 for a car and well worth it!

Trail close to the lake was short and paved. But, some nice covered picnic tables. Wichita Falls portion on south side did not have a trail entry on the west side. Finally found one on the east side.

Fun. The homestead is cool. We saw a snake on the trail.

This was more of a nature walk than a hike. Scenery was just ok. A couple cool spots with decent views worthy of taking a pic, but not much and not what I prefer. This place seems like it would be good for the elderly or families with kids. Signs and information posted about wildlife was neat, but it seemed more like a place for kids to learn than it was to get an actual hike in with a worthwhile view.
