Pluses are trail is very convenient, easy, and pretty. Typical dessert hike. Negative is it is "owned" by mountain bikers, VERY many of them essentially "demanding" the right of way constantly. careening downhill at > 20 mph

The hike took us 5/6 hours. Try to do it during morning. We started late and with summer heat in this region was really hard, but the trail is easy to follow, its rocky so use confortable shoes and bring lots of water and if possible fruits and granola bars. The view at the top is beautiful, totally worth it.!!!

So much fun and enjoyed the challenge. Went off and on the trail. Took a break down at the memorial before making the descent. Will do it again.

This was a nice little hike for someone looking to get back into shape and enjoy nature. My boyfriend and our husky enjoyed it. Finding the actual entrance in was a challenge but I enjoyed seeing the different birds and cactus.
Once you get going rocks make a path so you know you’re going on the right direction, which I thought was clever.

Really easy on my knees. Scenic view and still in phone network range.

Great hike with my daughter n my 77 yr old friend with 2 dogs take water n snacks we went inside cave when we got to the mines, is rocky on some terrain

Was a great hike. The overlook of the city is pretty cool. The facilities are very nice and clean and has a lot of info ..I hiked the loop which was really pretty much a hard hike like the app said...Not terrible i just didnt have the right shoes. Tennis shoes are probably not up to par for this hike...Would def do it again. Was able to by a littpe water at the top....

Fun hike! Lots of Deer if you go early.

Lots of loose rock from recent rain

This is the second time I've hiked this trail. So beautiful at sunrise, just remember a light of some sort! a few challenging spots but just take it slow there and you'll be good!

We parked at Camelot Estates and it was exactly 3 miles to the first little rock house and back.

This was a good hike for my two boys, ages 9 and 5, and our dog. We only did 3.1 miles but that was enough for the 5 year old. The trail is rocky but fairly flat and easy. We saw a couple rabbits and heard that someone saw a rattlesnake on the trail. Make sure to keep your eyes open for any of the wildlife along the trails.

Must of taken a wrong turn and ended up above the mines, made our way back down. So worth it! The mines were pretty cool to see, definitely going back with flashlights.

Good trail with a nice variety of elevation. Took my 10 year old and she did great.

Easy trail. no shade. so the earlier the better

Moderate hike for me. The views up there are breathtaking. I came on a Thursday were they said it was close but they are always upen for hikes. The store is the one closed.
First time in El Paso but I loved it

Definitely challenging. View in the top is one of the best views of El Paso. It took me nearly 5 hours to fully complete yet I am a beginner and I stopped often . Take as much water as you can and start early (park opens at 8) to beat the heat. I started late and that’s what killed me.

Extremely beautiful views. New to the area, first trail hiked here. Great work out. I loved using the metal chains to climb up and down seemingly impassible rock formations. Not for children.

Have done several different trails
On this lost dog trail easy for the wandering n hikers

This is a nice trail that starts at the West Cottonwood Trailhead. It takes you to an area of trees and a small spring that it is more showy in the rainy season. From this area you start to walk by the steepest section of the trail, then you reach the rim of the mountain from were you have a beautiful view of the Franklin Mountains and the city of El Paso.

Pretty cool

Great hike for small group, some steep walking in areas.

This was a nice walk with my dog buddy . Several bikers, walkers etc. I Felt safe on this Saturday morning. There was water when I went. The trail was paved n clean and there were areas to sit an relax.

Not sure where the app is taking us for the start point. Its just a neighborhood with no access to the trail, but once on the trail its a really nice walk.

Pretty easy hike, and the view at the top is amazing!

Amazing views, a must do if you’re in good enough shape and have an entire morning to kill in the area. Me and my two friends got it done in about 3 and a half hours with ample breaks to take in the views and hydrate.

The inclined can be tough, and the terrain is rocky and not always super stable. Hiking boots are a must.

Recommend hitting this trail early in the morning while temps are lower and to avoid heat exhaustion. No need to bring backpack. Just a water source and phone. Awesome trail. Amazing views at the top. Watch out for loose rocks and footing on the descent. Have fun!

good hike last little bit is tough but it was worth it. I will be back with a flashlight to negotiate the actual mines

I had walked this trail back in 2006 with a few buddies of mine. This is a great trail and very well kept. I found it pretty easy to hike. It does have some decent inclines in a couple areas. Once you get to the peak you have some great views of El Paso and the surrounding area.
