This is my favorite place (so far) in NTX to trail run! So many challenging elevation changes, the air smells like cedar, it’s scenic, and I love encountering other runners on the trail. Bring real supportive trail running shoes!, even if you’re hiking, this loop is not for the faint of heart. Great bird watching & place to get your heart rate elevated.

This is my local training spot for running and cycling. I love it but you do have to watch out for others...sometimes the cyclists are the jerks thinking they're at le tour and sometimes runners are the jerks wearing earbuds and can't hear approaching cyclists. Sometimes there are just families with kids who dart across the path. Overall, it's great. I like tacking on the other trails so I don't have to ride the loop multiple times to get in extra miles. It is a gem in the middle of the city and I'm so glad I live nearby.

Relaxing view while biking. Water fountain and public bathroom available.

A lovely lake to take a leisurely bike, walk, or run. Can be quite littered at times. Watch out for cyclists, they'll switch between road rules and pedestrian rules in an instant. Check out White Rock Paddle Co for kayaking!

Great biking trail. Beautiful view of the lake. Trees everywhere. Lots of birds.

excellent trails, can be very crowded. the easiest of the 3 lines is probably still a bit difficult for a first time rider. great area and scenery.

Awesome place, pretty crowdedon weekends.

Beautiful cedar trail with birds and vistas.

Amazing trails! Do watch out as there a significant amount of poison ivy on the fossil valley portion

Slightly experienced people would definitely call this an easy-moderate difficulty trail. The cedar brake trail specifically is the longest of a series of small trails in the cedar nature preserve. The loop itself is 1.9 miles with the access trail adding about 0.4 miles to the total hike. The cedar brake loop branches off to a less-than-spectacular lookout area about 3/4 of the way through. The main trails have quite a bit of traffic but it thins out farther into the cedar brake trail.

Great trail. We rented bikes from the trail. Yes, they have rental bikes on the trail for $1
We did 6 miles on the bike and walked 3.5 miles back to the car, to take our time and enjoy the trail.
GREAT PLACE!!!

Definitely the best trail in the area! This trail has multiple trails on it that were easy to navigate and included beautiful scenery. Lots of incline that kicked my butt. We went on the weekend and there were a lot of people. The only thing I didn’t like was we almost stepped on a rattlesnake, but that’s nature for you! There were many signs warning to watch for snakes. Other than being traumatized by my encounter with the devils serpent (lol) I will definitely go back! AND IT WAS CLEAN!!! Very little trash laying around.

I'm not sure why cottontail is hard and this is moderate, but they are both great. Lots of steep elevation so wear good supportive shoes.

Enjoyed the views - a nice, short hike to get away from the city.

If you have business in Dallas and are looking for a nice loop trail for a quick run, this trail is ideal. Conveniently located near both major airports, nicely paved, relatively flat. The loop is almost exactly a 5k. It loops around a lovely lake. Granted, it’s in the city and near airports so you will hear street noise and jet noise.

Good hike.. enjoyed it

Straight forward "hike" with lots of human traffic. Went towards the afternoon and the sunset over the lake was amazing! Lots of dogs on this "trail" so be careful with their byproducts if ya know what I mean. There are bicyclists as well so try not to get run over by them.

All in all, pretty easy and chill "hike".

Moderately trafficked? Not on the weekends. Everyone lives white rock lake.

I would rate this as moderate, not difficult, as someone who hikes often. But I think for this area, which is pretty flat, it could be considered difficult. Though this loop is only about 2 miles, there are a lot of trails off of it that can easily make your hike as long as you like. Some pretty views, the trails are very clean and well marked. I would go again if I was in the area.

To me, this the best trail in Dallas - Ft. Worth. Challenging and quite surprising if you've never been here. I started coming here back in the 90s web it was the little-known Dallas Nature Center. It's still as naturally beautiful as ever, but these days, there are a LOT of folks out here on any decent weather weekend, so solitude is a thing of the past. If you have a schedule that allows, or a day off, come on a weekday.

Great paved trail around the lake & beautiful wildlife especially for bird watching. I rented one of the bikes and biked about 3 of the 9 miles. Beautiful lavish homes lined the west side of the lake- amazing architecture. The lake was littered in a few areas, but other than that the grounds & trail was well maintained. I’ll definitely be back.

excellent trail for being in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. a lot of steep inclines and drops make this trail and it's sister trail cattail pond worth doing. I actually do both trails together. You will not be bored. my work has me off for extended periods and when I am off I walk this daily. When you combine the two my exersise app shows it is 4 miles and total climbing elevation if you combine all the up and downs is 826 steep climbing ft
