This was an awesome trail with great scenic overlooks with great views. It was hot and they had water refill stations. Lots of fun!

RunningGreat!

This is a great trail and it is hard to find such a beautiful and tough trail in North Texas since it is basically flat / no shade trail here. But this place is different and covered with trees and some trails are full of uphill/downhill. I would definitely recommend this trail for hiker / trail runner. One thing you need to pay attention is that this place will get busy quickly. You might want to be here 7 am or earlier (around 6 would be better), otherwise you can't use designated parking area, so you have to park a bit far and trails will be busy.

What a great trail. We went on a weekday and parked by the boat ramp. We felt we had the trail all to ourselves until we reached the Trinity River Audubon parking lot. On total we probably seen 7 people. The trail is less maintained by the boat ramp but it was kind of nice riding through with the feeling like you had discovered an unknown trail. We will be back.

This trail was pretty busy and clearly marked. Some parts of it were pretty rocky and elevation decline and incline is very apparent. But worth it when you reach the top.

Really nice trail, just not as long as advertised. I use another app to track my distance and it showed about 4.5 miles. I followed along closely on this app to make sure I was taking the correct route, and I’m certain that I did. I did the trail in 75 minutes so 2 1/2 hours isn’t needed unless you’re taking a lot of breaks. Lots of spots to rest and a few scenic areas too. Mostly shaded, but one good stretch had some sun.

I have hiked many different trails at Cedar Ridge Preserve, but this trailhead is not with all of the other ones. It’s actually down at the end of the last parking lot. Ended up going almost 7 miles because I had to backtrack a bit looking for the trailhead. Should have looked at the app closer! I don’t know how you could hike this trail without this app, because there are no signs with this trail’s name. It’s actually just combining a lot of different trails together, so I kept having to check the app to see which way to go. There are a lot of areas that are in the woods, so they are nicely shaded, but there are still several stretches that are exposed to full sun, so I would recommend taking a hat or umbrella for those areas, particularly in the middle of the day. Lots of scree on this trail, which could be tough on dog’s paws. Challenging trail, but FUN!

Awesome trail. Very forested. Felt like I was in a jungle at many places. Lots and lots of steep climbs and descents made for a challenging hike. This is without a doubt the toughest trail I’ve done in DFW. Note: My Apple Watch measured this trail at just over 6 miles and 860 feet elevation change.

Beautiful area with nice terrain. Lots of shade and plenty of pretty sights. The last stretch is all uphill and it’s a butt burner. Would be five stars but the place was absolutely littered with trash everywhere. That aspect was quite depressing. I would bring boots vs shoes for more stability on loose gravel.

So, overall great trail. It is relatively flat with gentle grades, scenic, and shaded (the shade was great). HOWEVER I would not recommend anyone to go alone and especially not to go after dusk. My partner and I went yesterday (Sun 05-24) and encountered some "sketchy" activity. There was an unmarked white van that had accessed the trail near the exit/entrance at Locust Dr. that was not affiliated with the City or county. The bollards protecting that exit/entry were destroyed. Anyway... the situation gave us the creeps because it left and came back multiple times to the same location... We have alerted City of Dallas and the PD but they still have not gotten back to us. Also, we found large bullets and syringes with needles still intact in the parking lot. LOL other than all of this, it's nice for day time use, but please be vigilant when you go...

Overview: I had a pleasant walk that was really relaxing. The trail is a paved bike / walking path that is shaded for the most part. Part of the trail is alongside a lake and river. Then the wooded area ,which I especially liked, that offers many possible wildlife sightings which include: Hares, Snakes, Turtles, Blue Jay's, Cardinals, Craines, Deer butterflies, dragonflies many other insects. There are also grassland areas which has many beautiful flowers . Pros: 1) There are many nice locations to sit and enjoy the scenery 2)There are three different trail heads that can be used as an endpoint in case you do not want to go through the full 16 mile loop. 3)There are 911 trail markers with locations references that can be used case of emergency. Cons: 1)No public restrooms and few trash cans. 2) Few water fountains and the one I tried using did not work could be due to corona virus now that I think of it. TIP: 1) Arive early as the "hiking" is estimated 6+ hours, this way you beat some of the heat. 2)Take plenty of water I took 3 liter camel back, two 24 oz. bottles of water and 1 liter of mango juice and ran out of water 2/3 of the way back. 3)Make sure your phone has full battery and could last at least 7 hrs while using GPS if you plan on recording your Hike.

This is not really a hiking trail, is a paved walking and biking trail. Although its a pretty walk, I'm somewhat disappointed.

For Dallas this is a great trail. You go deep into the Trinity Forest and feel miles away from the city. The trail floods so there is dirt over parts of the trail. We went biking today and all the dirt was dry so we had an easy time. After a rain, it would likely be very muddy. There was a fallen tree across the trail in one spot but you could get around it. We arrived on a beautiful Sunday morning in April around 10 and there was parking available. When we finished up around noon the lot was full. However, compared to White Rock and other popular trails, this one was was deserted. There’s a bridge that goes over the Trinity that is only a short bike ride from the parking lot near the Audubon center. It’s a great spot where you can see that the Trinity looks like a real river beyond the downtown levees! A great trail that gets four stars only for the dirt over the trail and fallen tree.

Hardly anyone there, can’t really hear the city when you get a couple miles into the trail, and all around a nice escape. Didn’t think I’d enjoy a hike on pavement, but it worked well. Might come back to run here from time to time.

Nice trail. Great lookout spot. Took some nice sunset pics there. Some places off the trail to chill too.
