Nice trail with some good views. I would not rate difficult, moderate at best. If you want a more leisure hike this is for you.

To all you hikers that keep complaining, take a minute to think who maintains the trail.. (DORBA).
(YES, IT COSTS BOTH MONEY TO BUY TOOLS AND LOTS OF VOLUNTEER HOURS TO KEEP THE TRAILS TIDY)
Then take another minute to figure out what does that mean. Hikers are more than welcome. but please no matter the park you go to. always stop at the trailhead and READ THE RULES!!!
most trails will ask hikers to go in the oposite direction so you can spot bikers from a distance and move aside.
thank you all for understanding.
have a great day!!

Well maintained and good for many activities at all age and skill levels. Nice escape from the traffic and has some decent views of the Dallas skyline.

Trail is cared for, only encountered two downed trees that were really in the way at all, a big one at Katy's loop at the far east. It is dry, sometimes dusty, and lots of overgrowth on most sides of the trail.

There are a few little clearings, especially around the pond right after you cross wildwood drive. There are several picnic tables there which look to have been put there by BSA eagles for their projects. These were the nice little areas that made you feel great about the hike - not just like you were hemmed in by brush.

The last half, when you are walking the Trinity, there are many places where people come in and fish. There tends to be a lot of trash, either from the high tide, or just inconsiderate people fishing there along the river.

Overall, a good 2-3 hours leisurely stroll through, or way quicker hike if you want to hoof it. Well shaded, so fairly cool the whole time. Lots of bypasses.

You can visit the California crossing park across the Trail Head and see a small spillway. Kinda fun, but again, all the inconsiderate people there leaving trash is a bit off putting.

Nice hiking trail for 20 min outside dallas. Mostly shaded which was nice. Rocky so I had to put boots on my dog. Can’t complain otherwise! Very little bike traffic although I came out on a weekday during the day.

Wonderful Pl. for a neighborhood walk

This is a very short trail, but there is an incline so it may be hard for young children. The trail is pretty overgrown but you can easily keep track of it. During the summer it's hard to see the dallas skyline where the bench is, but it should be much more visible as the leaves fall! You can hear the cars and the dart train but you can not see them from the trail. The trail head is kind of hidden, it's in the clearing of trees next to the big power line tower. Lots of bugs in the summer so put on bugspray! There are lots of shaded areas but also some clearings so suncreen is a must also.

beautiful lake; grew up in the area and still ride 2-3 times a week. it can get busy, but still always enjoyable.

Not hard at all, well kept and fun to hike or jog. It gets busy so go early :)

Nice area and hike. I am new to hiking but in good shape, and Im so mad I just discovered this place...

Easy to get lost, poorly marked. That is part of the fun though! Have gps or a compass and it’s a blast exploring all the fun trails.
Mild elevation changes throughout. Incredible scenery!

Very fun experience and I look forward to learning more of these trails.

This is my favorite place (so far) in NTX to trail run! So many challenging elevation changes, the air smells like cedar, it’s scenic, and I love encountering other runners on the trail. Bring real supportive trail running shoes!, even if you’re hiking, this loop is not for the faint of heart. Great bird watching & place to get your heart rate elevated.

This is my local training spot for running and cycling. I love it but you do have to watch out for others...sometimes the cyclists are the jerks thinking they're at le tour and sometimes runners are the jerks wearing earbuds and can't hear approaching cyclists. Sometimes there are just families with kids who dart across the path. Overall, it's great. I like tacking on the other trails so I don't have to ride the loop multiple times to get in extra miles. It is a gem in the middle of the city and I'm so glad I live nearby.

Bike only,
Trail is really narrow
Not hiker friendly

Lots of pretty nature to see. High traffic on the morning of 4th of July. Some exposed areas out of the shade, so bring a hat and lots of water if going the summer. Trails are marked with various types of signs and some of them contradictory to others, so it's a little confusing. Also had a ton of cut throughs that make staying on the trails challenging, and again make it easy to get lost. If I'd taken my bike, I'd be annoyed with the amount of foot traffic. Still, it's beautiful.

Trail is well ridden and easy to access. Its pretty dry this time of year so the trail was dusty, but fast. My eight year old rode a few miles on the trail and had a blast but made the comment that it wasn't very challenging because it lacked elevation change. The trail is a nice alternative to more technical or scenic trail systems for locals, but I wouldn't make it a destination stop. Really its more of a convenience.

Overall, the nature preserve is nice, with many different path options to manage how far you want to go. Relatively well kept, but I did see a little trash along the trail.

My biggest issue is that the trail is poorly marked. Easy to get lost with lots of random offshoots to confuse just about everyone on the trail.

My second issue, which might be more of a preference, is that over half the trail is not shaded. If it’s summer in dallas, you will need to bring plenty of water for you and your dog.

One mile to the pond, one mile back! Such a fun trail! Tons of things to see! Beautiful views!

Great place! One of my favorites now. Hiking through the trees. Went and let dogs play in stream. Not many out with us in the morning. Shade helped keep the heat comfortable.

always a nice little escape. Use your GPs though it's easy to get lost.

Checked it out this morning, we entered through Katie Jackson Park the weather was in the high 80s but since it was pretty shaded it wasn’t bad! Brought my Boston with me and he did great! We’ll definitely go back again!

All paved, super flat. Easy start to finish and always crowded, even on week days. Very well-maintained and litter-free. The wisteria in the springtime is absolutely lovely. Stop at Katy Trail Ice House if it's a drinkin' sort of hike.

A surprisingly lovely hidden gem. Parts were a bit littered when I went. Navigation can be tricky, just pay close attention and have a GPS app. Lots of shade.

A lovely lake to take a leisurely bike, walk, or run. Can be quite littered at times. Watch out for cyclists, they'll switch between road rules and pedestrian rules in an instant. Check out White Rock Paddle Co for kayaking!
