Great trail but the damn grass is to damn high to ride through

I enjoyed this trail quite a bit. I wish things were slightly better marked, particularly for a visitor from out of town, it took me a while to find the paths each turn. One piece of sage advice - use mosquito repellent. I got eaten alive and struggled the following week with awful bites. ;-) Well maintained, nice trails!

Quiet in the springtime compared to the popular "spring breaker" beaches. Very few places to sit once you start walking, but still good for a stroll. If you have bike tires made for sand you can ride along the shore. Mind the jellyfish.

Awesome for easy trail running- you can get easily lost though!

Best one so far. signs everywhere. great places to rest and enjoy scenery.

Nice wide trail. I took my 3 year old. It's a little long for her. We'll bring the stroller next time.

trail was good but not enough directions. no map of trails.

Easy, nice trail.

Nice paved trail for most of the walk, some well kept dirt trail as well. Definitely on the easier side.

Nice trail system, well maintained and full of wildlife. Unfortunately a lot of strange people were on the trail when I went for a walk on a Sunday morning! Passed out in the bushes or asking for drugs when I walked by. One even followed me back to my car. Will not be walking there alone ever again.

I wish I had known about this a long time ago! I took my dog out for a 4 mile “hike” around this park and the adjacent trails. Lots of wildlife, very quiet. I thought it was as well maintained as it needed to be. Some bushwhacking required on the narrower trails and areas around the water are muddy. Since this is a mountain biking trail system you need to be careful of bikers coming around some of the blind turns, along with off-road vehicles on the wider trails. Other than that it is a great trail system and I will be returning!

Great trail for all levels along Oso Bay.

It's overgrown and there are some muddy patches, but it still makes for an exhilarating (although short) hike!

Pretty grown over right now, probably all the rain we’ve had.

Hot, humid, lots of ant beds and mosquitoes. .Few places to sit, rest.

This trail is in Corpus Christi, not Big Bend State Park as stated in the list.

Great park! Tons of trails, well maintained. Nice clean restrooms at the learning center. Big park for kids. I got a little lost on the trails, but only because I'm directionally challenged. Spent about 3 hours here walking around exploring everything.

Love this new area for hiking and exploring as well as the kids playground that is really fun and encourages running around, playing, and climbing along with exploring the wetland areas.

We brought the cub scouts here for a 3 miler. A very nice walk in a beautiful day. The full circuit is about 1.7 miles including side paths, with only one hill. We walked it twice to push us over 3 miles.

It's the closest thing Corpus Christi has to a wildlife/wilderness trail and I use it all the time to try out my backpacking gear, be among nature, etc. Don't freak out by the labyrinth of trails. You can pretty much follow the power lines to find an exit somewhere. The trails are mostly maintained by volutneers, can get overgrown at times. Chiggers are real bad in Spring and Summer. I only gave four stars because I wish this park was bigger with even more trails and that camping was allowed.

Does anyone have any experience how the camping is in the area? Looking at coming down early summer.

My daughter and I drove about 25 miles down the beach. Played in a little loose sand splashed in the water once or twice. Just a nice easy cruise.

Wide trails with canopy of mature trees over most of the trails. Great if you want to minimize exposure to the sun. View of the water from most of the trails. Serene and quiet; except for the many, many birds, haha :-). Boardwalk leads to observation area at water’s edge. Dog walking and photo shoots are popular activities.

Small and pretty basic. Needs some upkeep, but nice for being in an area such as Corpus Christi (Calallen)

Pretty much it is a beach walk however, it is a comfortable walk because the sand is pretty compacted and you will get bogged down like other beaches. The constant off shore breeze will help cool you down and you can always jump in the ocean if you are attired correctly.

Take state Highway 358 SE out of Corpus Christi, when 358 dead ends at Padre Island, take a right down Padre Island drive to the end of the road ..... literally. Nice National Park Service pavilion is pretty much the only structure you will see. The trail, well when you're on a narrow barrier island there's only one trail and it's called "the beach". And there are miles and miles and miles of it. I've never seen the beach crowded (as opposed to the other beach areas on Padre and Mustang Islands). A very relaxing and beautiful destination.
