#7 - Hazel Bazemore Park Loop
Hazel Bazemore ParkLength: 2.3 mi • Est. 55 m
This trail loops around the perimeter of Hazel Bazemore Park and takes you up several boardwalks that are great viewing areas for watching migrating hawks.
Accessibility: There is one designated handicapped-accessible space in the paved parking lot off of Country Road 69 at the Hawk Watch Platform at the southwest end of the trail at about 1.7 miles. It is van-accessible with striped access aisles. There is additional paved parking at the trailhead by the playgrounds and at the entrance to a boardwalk at about 1.1 miles, but there do not appear to be any designated handicapped-accessible spaces in these areas.
The trail surface is a paved road, dirt trail, or wooden boardwalk with railings and typically at least 8 feet wide. The most accessible portion of the trail is the paved road and the wooden boardwalks. There are boardwalks located at about 0.0 miles, 1.1 miles and 1.7 miles. The loop to the southeast from about 0.2-0.5 miles is a narrow dirt trail with steps and will likely not be navigable for most wheelchairs/mobility equipment or strollers. The estimated grade for the paved roads and boardwalks is mostly gentle (5% or less). The paved road and boardwalk portions will likely be navigable for most wheelchairs/mobility equipment or strollers. The paved road does share the road with vehicles, so please use caution, and using reflective materials, lights, or flagging is recommended for safety.
