Really pretty. Trails split but are clearly marked. Easy to navigate. Humid due to the woodiness. Kind of hard to get to, no real place to park (coming from the recreation area of WG, where there's construction). Would do again, though!

One of my favorite places to hike.

Good easy trail, well maintained.

Id love to know where to park for this trail and where I should access it from. The construction has it blocked off.

Beautiful trails to run so the scenery doesn’t get boring. It’s not all as open as I would have liked, but the main parts definitely are. There is also lovely wildflowers and a pond. There is a lot of sand/mud, and tall grasses as well. Mosquito spray is a good idea. But as there isn’t as much traffic I did encounter a snake while running so always keep an eye out!

Love this little trail! The trail is different every step of the way so you don’t get bored especially when there are so many fun bridges to cross!

Nice walk with the kids

Good and friendly

Beautiful scenery and great place to take the dogs and kids.

There is a “P” for parking at the Sweetleaf Nature Trail but i cannot access that area due to construction of a new apartment project. Does anyone know if this is temporary? I’m not referring to the P at the southern edge of 1488. But on the map at the trailhead, there is supposed to be parking and access somewhere off of Carriage Hills Blvd. Thanks.

So turns out you can have your dogs on a leash; very quiet and isolated trail

Beautiful, fun and easy hike although the lack of signage is an issue. If we hadn't been following this app we could've easily gotten lost despite it only being 1.7 miles. They do have some arrows spray-painted on trees but you don't know which way they are pointing towards.

Be careful-- we saw what looked like a good-sized cottonmouth on the side of the trail at the very end. (This could happen on any trail though, so always be careful!)

Easy walk and close to home.

These are nice trails in a pretty park setting. There are trail maps, but the trails themselves are not well marked. The description says it runs by a river, but it would be generous to describe it as a creek.

Parking is easy to spot, right next to the stoplight. I could see parking being limited on holiday weekends, but otherwise there's plenty (plus there's another parking lot further east, which I believe is not used much). In the front of the trail system there are some picnic tables and benches, and near "Middle Lake", about midway through the park, there are some bleachers to rest on.

As for the trail itself, and trail running-
This isn't a trail to get hill climbing or rock scrambling. It is definitely a trail to get some faster miles in as most of the trails are wide open and fairly flat. The signage is great in the front (north) parts of the forest, but the further south you go the less the signage gets. But stick to the main trails and you'll be fine. There are several skinnier trails through the trees, with foliage to dodge, tree roots to navigate, the occasional log, etc. but the main trails are all wide and mostly flat. No overgrowth on the main trails, and they're well maintained it seems. But...

Sand. Sand sand and more sand! I figure woodchips, mulch, etc. would be good, but there's a ton of sand on some of the trails. Maybe some people are used to running on sand. The forest is beautiful, the skinnier trails through the woods are quiet fun, and watching horses gallop by is kinds neat. But why sand int he middle of the forest?

All in all, due to the lack of creek crossings and any good hills to climb, I give this a four instead of a five for trail running.

Very easy approximate 2 mile hike. The park has a giant covered canopy with picnic tables to escape the sun. It also has a playground for children. It has grills to have a little cookout as well. The park also has a disc golf course (18 holes).

One of my new favorite spots. Lots of nature and a variety of routes to take. Completed 5 Miles today and plan on coming back. Only bad thing was the wet trails were slippery at times. Proceed with caution if you decide to go after some rainfall.

Great in town sanctuary to have a quick getaway in the middle of the day.

Very nice an quiet!

Cool forest because you can make the trail as long or short as you want. Getting a lot more busy lately with all the development happening on 1488.

The sweet leaf trail is across across from the parking lot! Such a pretty easy trail. Loved the rainbow suspension bridge!

Unmarked trails that are confusing, just went in circles and had to use a map to get out. No waterfall and No hotsprings were found.

The perimeter is a horse and truck trail so it's nice and wide. Watch for lots of horse and dog drioppings. They are everywhere on the main trails. The lake is the best spot, nice and secluded. Otherwise these trails are boring and predictable to walk or hike, including the inner trails.
Next time I'll ride my mtn bike. I am sure it will be more fun.

This trail was long and parts were very wide. If your trying to escape the city its amazing. If your looking for small trails hit the trails that go off the main trails for a more adventurous route.

Trail was exteremly open and often we would have to take the side trails to make it more interesting. Definetly better then sitting home. Looking forward to hiking the sister trail across 1488.

This trail is a great starter trail to take your family on. Small suggestion there is a pond where people go fishing. If you walk the trail and find some deaper holes in the creek you can catch fish there. The park also offers workout equipment. Pretty awesome.
