Breathtakingly gorgeous. I took my 10 , 12, and 17 yr old and they loved it!

Awesome trail! We bought our one year old on a backpack carrier and it is totally doable, a little tiring but as soon as you start getting the river you forget about your fatigue.

Awesome trail with a cool little cave to explore

Good trail. Wear good shoes and be ready to climb some. I saw a lot of kids doing this trail but some of the elderly struggled a little. The payoff at the end is worth it.

Great trail, not to difficult and not to long. The best views are at the top on the backside. bring yourself a lunch to eat at the top.

Really fun trail! We made it up with two kids and a 10 month old baby. :)

Awesome trail with beautiful views. Maps need to be updated and signage is poor. They use yellow footprints to mark the trails.

Beautiful views. Nice trail length lots of climbing! Super fun

Last week was my second time hiking up to the summit. In my opinion the trail is a bit more than moderate but for the short distance I guess moderate is ok. A few sections are dangerous because you will have to climb up rocks more than hike a trail. The cool thing about this hike is immediate view payoffs, if you stop to rest you have a view, awesome views at that. The summit is a nice place to sit and relax. Its large enough so you can wonder around for a 360 view of the area. Its really a nice hike during off season. I hiked it last year at the beginning of tourist season and it was heavily trafficked, especially by children (under 15). I find that many parents don’t pay mind to their children as they toss rocks over the edge (cliff face). I’ve mentioned to some parents that their children are tossing rocks into areas that have other hikers and those rock may hit someone on the head.

May be the most beautiful hiking trail in Texas. The trails are challenging but pretty short in terms of time. Take your time and enjoy the views!

Such a fun and beautiful park!

A great trail. Aeesome view from the top and finish off by jumping in the Frio.

Very nice place to hike. Too busy for me during warmer weather so I'll plan another visit in the late fall.
There is something for everyone here, if you like the outdoors that is. Even after a heavy rain the water from the Frio River started to clear up in just a few hours. I stayed for two full days and still needed more time to see everything.
This park really is beautiful.
-camping (tent areas have water and power in many locations).
-small cabins
-larger nice cabins
-river fun
-mountain biking
-a local grill with food and drinks (seasonal)
-grocery store in the campgrounds
-gift shop
It gets four stars because I like nature to be more secluded, this place is more like a vacation park than a nature conservation area.

Great trail beautiful scenery.

Loved it. And didn't even get to cover close to all of the park. We started with Old Baldy and took an alternate trail down. This was my first "challenging" trail in Texas. It was steep, but really short. One of the most scenic trails I have done in hill country. We saw a Red Tailed Hawk from above! There are some great screened shelters next to a shower/restroom facility.

Great trails that vary in skill level. We went up a very challenging Crystal Cave route to Painted Rock. The cave was nice, painted rock was all about the view of the Frio Canyon and 'Old Baldy'. We went in fall and it was great. Will go back to complete more trails.

Great trails that vary in skill level. painted rock was a bust but still provided a great look out point. recommend it to everyone.

Very nice hiking trails. The trails are all intertwined into the camp grounds of the state park here, but are still enjoyable. The trails can take you far enough away from all the other activity to give you that sense of wilderness. Also Garner has a very nice little creek that has some great little places to dip into. Fun place to hike or camp with kids.

This may have been the most enjoyable camping and hiking I've experienced in Texas yet. The hike up the trail from any trailhead is demanding at first--a steep slope upward--but we found mountain goats and plenty of birds and rodents to amuse us along the way (and serve as a good excuse to stop for a water break). Once on top, the views of the Rio Frio and the surrounding countryside are well worth the effort, and you can happily spend an afternoon wandering around the interconnected trails, which range from sunny and open to shaded and tree-lined. Then, when the heat gets to be too much, head downhill to the river and take a dip; it's appropriately named!

Old Baldy Trail and White Rock Cave Trail are both worth the drive out to Concan, Texas! The views from the trail as you're ascending, and from the summit, are outstanding. Be prepared for a challenging hike. On a hot day you'll need several bottles of water, some food, good hiking shoes, and determination to reach the top. Watch out for loose rocks as you climb, and don't rush your steps, but remember to stop and look around, because the scenery changes so often. The best views of Old Baldy are from the summit of White Rock Cave trail, so be sure to climb them both.

Awesome hiking..must take the climb up to painted rock and cave as the views are awesome!! Steep climb and some loose rocks in areas so have good shoes on. Great views near beautiful river as well.

I took Bird Trail on the way up to the summit and it was steep and challenging. White Rock Cave was a great surprise. I took Bridges Trail on the way down. Bridges Trail is very rocky with large rock mixed with small pebbles. Wear proper hiking shoes with good traction to avoid slipping.
