Definitely steep! Definitely hard! Definitely worth it!! We hiked old baldy with our 4 kids (13,11,9,7) they thought the hike was super tough, but they pulled through and really loved the hike in the end! We hiked in the morning and the trail wasn’t busy and the weather was much cooler (we hiked in August)

Breathtakingly gorgeous. I took my 10 , 12, and 17 yr old and they loved it!

Awesome trail! We bought our one year old on a backpack carrier and it is totally doable, a little tiring but as soon as you start getting the river you forget about your fatigue.

Awesome trail with a cool little cave to explore

Good trail. Wear good shoes and be ready to climb some. I saw a lot of kids doing this trail but some of the elderly struggled a little. The payoff at the end is worth it.

Great trail, not to difficult and not to long. The best views are at the top on the backside. bring yourself a lunch to eat at the top.

Really fun trail! We made it up with two kids and a 10 month old baby. :)

Beautiful Park. I wish we could have spent more time there, we only spent half a day. The hike to the summit of Old Baldy was amazing and the view was breathtaking. The park has a gift shop, food truck and little grocery store. From what we were told the park gets very busy in the summer. Cant wait to spend more time in the park

Awesome trail with beautiful views. Maps need to be updated and signage is poor. They use yellow footprints to mark the trails.

Beautiful views. Nice trail length lots of climbing! Super fun

Last week was my second time hiking up to the summit. In my opinion the trail is a bit more than moderate but for the short distance I guess moderate is ok. A few sections are dangerous because you will have to climb up rocks more than hike a trail. The cool thing about this hike is immediate view payoffs, if you stop to rest you have a view, awesome views at that. The summit is a nice place to sit and relax. Its large enough so you can wonder around for a 360 view of the area. Its really a nice hike during off season. I hiked it last year at the beginning of tourist season and it was heavily trafficked, especially by children (under 15). I find that many parents don’t pay mind to their children as they toss rocks over the edge (cliff face). I’ve mentioned to some parents that their children are tossing rocks into areas that have other hikers and those rock may hit someone on the head.

May be the most beautiful hiking trail in Texas. The trails are challenging but pretty short in terms of time. Take your time and enjoy the views!

Pretty good trails for hiking. Some start very steep and others are slow and gradual. There is a nice mix of steep and easy trails to break up the hike.
I'd recommend wearing shoes with good grip since a lot of the rocks are very slick and you can take a nasty tumble.
- Bring a flashlight to explore Crystal Cave
- Some trails aren't very well marked once you reach the top

A great trail. Aeesome view from the top and finish off by jumping in the Frio.

Decent trails, felt invigorated after I finished them. Park is nice , gives a nice wilderness feel, although it's very very busy and commercialized.

Very nice place to hike. Too busy for me during warmer weather so I'll plan another visit in the late fall.
There is something for everyone here, if you like the outdoors that is. Even after a heavy rain the water from the Frio River started to clear up in just a few hours. I stayed for two full days and still needed more time to see everything.
This park really is beautiful.
-camping (tent areas have water and power in many locations).
-small cabins
-larger nice cabins
-river fun
-mountain biking
-hiking
-a local grill with food and drinks (seasonal)
-grocery store in the campgrounds
-gift shop
It gets four stars because I like nature to be more secluded, this place is more like a vacation park than a nature conservation area.

Amazing hiking trails. Lots to do here. The views where breath taking. The hike up to old baldy was worth the trip. There are trails to fit every style of hiking. Enjoyed the Donovan trail and campos trail. Crystal cave trail gets a bit crowed with hikers. But still a nice trail. Bridges trail is moderate, up hill. The frio canyon trail is the least traveled trail. The water is crystal clear. Would go back here in a heart beat. Truly amazing park.

Loved it. And didn't even get to cover close to all of the park. We started with Old Baldy and took an alternate trail down. This was my first "challenging" trail in Texas. It was steep, but really short. One of the most scenic trails I have done in hill country. We saw a Red Tailed Hawk from above! There are some great screened shelters next to a shower/restroom facility.
