Another hike I was pleasantly surprised with. Lots of horse dung along the way but meh. Great colors of the surrounding mountains at sunset. Completed January 2019

Easy path to the springs, just very crowded at dusk. Probably would have been great if I had gone at dawn instead. Completed January 2019

Easy and accessible. Didn't have enough time to do the full window trail for sunset but this was good enough. Completed January 2019

Must do hike in the Chisos Mountains area. Great chilly weather in the wintertime. Completed December 2016, January 2019

Great trail. We started at about 0830 and finished @ 1625, little under 8 hrs with a few breaks and stopping at the rim for pics. We’re in pretty good shape but we’re still gassed by the end. The distance is pretty accurate, the views from the south rim are absolutely amazing as far as the eye can see! We starting on the laguna meadow side and went down the pinnacle trail, it’s a bit more forgiving perhaps but can be a bit tough on the legs! Some may prefer to get the steeper hiking done first on pinnacle and come down on the less steep side laguna not having to descend down the steeper elevation as it can be harder on the knees, whatever you think you’d prefer. We skipped Emory peak, we’d hiked it from the pinnacle last trip and skipped the whole loop as we were short on time. This trail has a little of everything, highly recommend it if you’re looking for a challenging day hike with one of the best views in the USA. Also camp sites for those looking to make a weekend out of it!

Fun trail. Fairly busy. Path has Rio Grande access, some families went swimming.

a gorgeous walk and beautiful, rustic hot springs coming out of the river. the only drawback is that this area is becoming more and more crowded as years pass. go now and dont wait because when you come back, you'll be fighting more people to feel like you're in nature

short, but gorgeous and it's an excellent representation of the canyons that can be found all along the Rio Grande. go super early to avoid the crowds and bring some cash so you can pick up one of the little beaded trinkets or walking sticks made by Mexicans across the water.

Great trail!! Heavily wooded area. Perfect for the spring/fall hikes. Summer hikes would be awfully hot. The trail winded up vs just a steep incline. Beautiful view definitely worth it!

Great trail, stunning views most of the way up and then of course at the final destination.

Easy trail to an amazing canyon that narrows.

Easy trail that leads to a nice overlook of Rio Grand.

A nice trail that enters Boquillas canyon. Definitely a very easy hike overall. On the Mexican border with several spots where Mexican residents illegally cross the river and sell trinkets and walking sticks. They seemed friendly. Just trying to make a $. The canyon is spectacular with its 1,300 vertical cliffs. Sandy down by the river. Overall a great 2 mile hike.

It was a very good and doable trail for a family hike. Highly recommend!

Loved this hike! It was right at our campsite so I did it twice a day for sunrise & sunset! If you’re up for an additional trek...follow the sign at the bottom of the overlook that points to the river, it’s a grassy and rocky trail that leads to the Rio Grande! It has a nice beach area where we had lunch!!

Beautiful & easy trail! It was pretty empty when we went people would filter in and out every ten minutes. We couldn’t stay in long, we prefer the cold Rio Grande next to the springs! My favorite part was the short walk to the Rio! Right off the path behind the picnic table you will find a beachy area to dip in the cool water! We saw some kids taking a dip on the Mexico side splashing & enjoying as well. So peaceful we stayed for an hour & another family brought chairs to join!

Steep uphill but worth it in the end. Amazing view at the top. Plus it is cool to walk the ridge at the top of a mountain

Not a bad little hike

Amazing trail with nice coverage! Saved Emory Peak for another time

This trail is amazing. Start before dawn and hike using flashlights to see ridiculous sunrise views - and to make sure you snag a parking spot. The view from the top has to be in the top 3 in all of BBNP.

We took Laguna Meadows to our first campsite (LM4), then hit the South Rim on our second day. All the other reviews say it, but it bears repeating: the view is astounding. I'm from flat nowhere and being able to see that far at once was an incredible experience. We camped at Colima for our second night and took the Boot Canyon trail to Pinnacles and on home. We skipped Emory peak in favor of spending more time at the South Rim (as someone suggested here...I second that!) All-told, our phones told us we hiked around 18.5 miles with all the extra wandering around. I suggest starting on the Laguna Meadows side and finishing out at Pinnacles. The trail was very well maintained and easy to follow. A hike very worth making!!

This Outer Mountain Loop as it’s more commonly called is a challenging trail with varied scenery. As with most desert hiking, water is scarce so plan on carrying a heavier pack. Do not attempt this hike in summer, especially the Dodson trail as temperatures are dangerously hot. We completed this trail in late February and already the desert portions were hard due to lack of shade. The high Chisos are a welcome relief to the hotter desert floor but both areas offer unique scenery. We hiked this loop clockwise starting in the Basin and climbing the steeper Pinnacles trail first and ending with the Laguna Meadows trail. Allow a minimum of 3 days. If you want to take it all in and not make it an endurance test, give yourself an extra day.
