We hiked Warriors Passage again after two years. The trail is 11 miles, which doesn’t include the 1.6 mile trek over a gravel road to the tower. Wildcat Creek is deep. We took sandals, changed into them, crossed the creek and left them on the other side. They were still there on the return trip and the cold water was wonderful! We saw a bear for the first time on a trail! He was about 25 yards from us. We looked at him and he looked at us, and no more than a minute, he turned and ran into the woods. The trail is really overgrown— lots of scratches. At about mile 3, it looks like a tree has fallen over the trail, and it has, only the trail is a switchback , so you should go to the right uphill to detour and the trail picks up again. It’s tough, the last mile and a half is hard. 872’ in .4 mile, and the total elevation is 2500’. The “burn bald” is pretty hard to navigate, but the trail is there. Altogether, the trail is clearly blazed with three white blazes, two small and a larger center rectangle.

We were so excited to do this trail today! We were driving towards the trailhead on the dirt road leading towards it (pretty rocky and uneven) and there were pieces of wood with nails sticking out strategically placed and hidden under leaves and in puddles. Thankfully we noticed before driving over them, but we kept clearing them out. Probably 9 or so. It seemed so sketchy and we didn’t feel right. Plus, we’d hate to come out of the trail with a flat tire. Who would do this?! Super disappointed I didn’t get to see the falls but just make sure to keep a lookout if you’re headed that way! Uploaded a photo of it.

There is no trail here. Unless you count crawling thru rhododendron. Like on your hands and knees.

It is scary if you don’t know where you are going? Need to go to this trail in bright day light. Be careful with snakes and bears. It is an short moderate going to the falls and hard coming back the parking lot. But the falls is gorgeous and worth it. Can finish the trail in an hour. it is worth the visit in Tellico Plains.. Thank you to other reviewers as I read them before We went, it prepares us to the unexpected.

It’s mostly downhill in the way in, so the climb back up is a little difficult but not too bad since it’s a pretty short hike.

Directions: DO NOT GO LEFT when you come to a sign that says 170 at a dead end, GO RIGHT. See photos. The road there is kind of rough, lower cars would likely bottom out. 4x4 is not necessary unless it has recently rained. If you go the wrong way (I repeat, DO NOT GO LEFT) without a 4x4 you might get stuck.... and there’s no service to call for help.

Trail: Once you park in the lot the trail goes off to the LEFT of the sign that says 170. See photos. The water fall is BEAUTIFUL. We cannot wait to come back in summer. We had no bee issue today as others mentioned, but it was right around or under 40 degrees. Really sad that people have littered beer cans and such along the trail- we will bring bags to pick up the trash next time and encourage others to do so as well.

Good trail you’ll have to deal with hiking up the mountain but it’s not to bad all in all good hike. We hiked this in mid February and saw lots of bear scat on the trail

Not too terrible for a short hike, ran into a bee issue like others have stated and almost everyone in my small group was stung at least once(including the dogs). Surprising amount of people on the trail for the unmaintained access road leading to the trailhead. I wouldn’t recommend trying to drive up to it with any vehicles that are too low.

Started at trailhead beside gee creek. Walked 1 mike then came back. Nothing to see but trees at that point

Easy start, but hiking partner unable to go down steep descending part to where waterway is. Turned back and did 3.5 miles total on easy part.
Will return to finish trail some day. Best to go before vegetation starts to grow as it would easily be overgrown. Lot of trees down.

Good luck getting up the road unless you got a jacked up 4 wheel drive. Had to back my truck down the hill 100 yards.

This is a great short hike. However it is tough coming out. It's a climb for the whole .6 mi. The road in is somewhat washed and there's a huge rut in part of the road but it's maneuverable. The waterfalls are beautiful. There's a swimming hole to cool off in!

Easy, rewarding hike. The falls area is great, lots of nice pools and rocks to sit on.

The road getting there isn't nearly as bad as the reviews here let on, just rocky, and has the one hole, but stay right and you won't have any trouble.

was very surprised that so many people visited there today. besides the bee issue and the venomous snake, on our way back, there was a boy threw rocks at the steep switchback multiple times. we almost got hit. his parents denied first then the boy admitted he did. smh. very overrated. esp poor road condition leading to the trailhead.

rock climbing

Awesome trial with great views and rock climbing.

This was a really nice trail!! Beautiful water falls

I hiked this trail with five friends. It was amazing. The drive up was a little scary due to the one-way winding roads and some sections being washed out, but it's worth it.

There is quartz along the trail, poison ivy, mushrooms, and a few tree branches you have to climb over. Once you reach the actual falls, you will definitely want to swim.

I'm glad I brought sturdy river shoes as others had recommended.

trail running

Nice trail but poorly marked in some areas, not heavy used or well maintained. Several small creek crossing but could rock hop them all. Some large scat along the trail as well. Not the best for trail running, but still a decent trail.

Lots of water over the falls. Mara is correct about the large hole in the access road, but I made it in my Mustang. Believed the gps at first and missed the road to the parking area at first and drove down a extremely rocky road to where the road crosses the creek. After taking a few pics, finally turned around and found the correct road to the parking area. When FDR #341 hits a tee, go to the right, not the left. Look for the trail #170 marker - I missed it the first time.

Trail is in pretty good condition except for the 3 large trees across the path near the top of the falls. It's nice and smooth for about the first half, then the next quarter is pretty "rooty" and the final stretch is rocky. A nice hike - but a lot easier going down than back up.

The waterfall was pretty, but the drive in needed more gravel. It was very rocky and driving up the long road in was super bumpy. There was one point where there was a giant hole in the road in the middle of a steep hill. I don't think we would have made it except we were in a jeep.

Very lovely trail, fairly interpretive as far as markings go, definitely isn't a trail you can follow blindly. We ended up at a creek crossing, too deep to cross so we will have to come back in summer when it's warmer etc. gravel road to trailhead is narrow and bumpy ride, glad I didn't take my car & took the SUV instead!!!

This is a good place for a peaceful walk. the trail is not worn down, like a trails. you have to pay attention to stay on the trail. someone has marked the turns, with ribbon's. I hiked from the old furnace road. to wildcat creek. there is a small campsite at the creek. creek is beautiful.

Beautiful waterfall, trail was fine, the drive up to the trailhead not great, some of the road was washed out, maybe repaired by now? Another hike shot a water moccasin while I was near the falls.
