a little over grown in spots, but overall good trail. twin rocks loop is probably the most difficult part of this trail. Would be better in winter.

Good hike, beautiful destination. Not heavily trafficked for a Sunday. Main trail easy, definitely some moderate areas to get down (and up). Trail markings mostly visible. Would do it again.

Great trail and beautiful river views

Several trees across the trail, fourteen by my count to the first bridge. Very enjoyable trail can be very slick when wet. The listed mileage is short of reality. McDonald Branch was difficult to cross because of high water and very slick rocks.

Great hike! Tough hike out with a 4 and 1 year old in tow but definitely worth it!

Stinging fork falls is 3 miles round trip, with a a 30-foot (9.1 m) high waterfall. the more tranquil and picturesque swimming holes

many sections are narrow, rocky, and have steep drop-offs into the gorge.

We had a good day! However it is actually 8.5 miles out and 8.5 back. Piney River Bridge has a nice swimming area as does the picnic area across from the trail head. Unfortunately there were lots of trees down across the trail. I am assuming it was from last week’s storms because the leaves were still green. Got to see a lot of beautiful mushrooms and fungus and 3 different snakes! Don’t take inexperienced hikers. There were parts of the trail we actually were hiking in a waterfall and the rocks were slippery. Not an easy trail but not a hard trail either.

This was a great little trail. Flat and easy till the split then becomes moderately tough. Turn right to go to base of the falls. The trail to the left is starting to get overgrown a little bit but has a pretty view from the top. Part of one of stairways was blocked from a fallen tree on the way down.

Nice hike, but trail not marked clearly on the left fork. Almost stepped on copperhead snake at the fork in the trail...great photo op. Bring a walking stick.

Good trail but not an easy trail. It would definitely be moderate.

This is my favorite so far! Climbing up and down the rocks was a bit exhausting but even as a beginner I still managed to make it to the waterfall at the end. It's a great spot for a swim so bring a bathing suit!

Although this says the trail is 6.1 miles, my Endomondo measured almost 8 miles from the parking lot. This also rates the trail as easy and I'd definitely rate it as moderate with some difficult areas. I hike with several people who could not handle this trail because of crossing rocks and I would not expect that with an "easy" rated trail. The river was absolutely beautiful in the areas we could see it (the beginning and at the bridge where we turned around). The person who told me about the trail said it was all along the river so I expected to see the river constantly instead of hiking parallel to the river but far enough up that you couldn't see the river because of the trees. I'm thinking I'd enjoy this hike more in the winter when the trees are bare. I imagine there would be some awesome ice formations too if you pick just the right time to go.

It looks easy in the beginning, after it forks going down the trail to the bottom of the falls is hard and a little dangerous. But it is worth it and good achievement completing the end of the trail.

Hiked to the falls. yes, its a moderate hard trail towards the bottom but it was worth it!!

Loved this waterfall. Absolutely beautiful. The trail towards the end is poorly marked. Steep and wouldn’t recommend to older people or anyone with knee problems due to it is very steep. Once there it is amazing !

Beautiful views. Watch your step!

Fun. Definitely Moderate. The trail is easy to follow but seemingly endless.

Nice trail but very rocky in many parts and a bit hazardous for older folks to navigate. A nice additional trail if you are hiking other short trails (like Piney Falls) in the area.

Nice and secluded. 1st part of the trail is very nice. Last part down to the falls is steep and rocky. Really not a trail at all. Be prepared for that.

First part of Trail is nice, the last half of trail is very rocky, very slick, narrow, and tough! I do not recommend this for newbies, young children, or anyone with knee issues. The last half is not very well marked, needs a few more trail markers.

Beautiful! Really steep though

great hike. .not to long
going back up is another story lol

Nice walk great view

Hiked trail today. Did not disappoint. Trail was icy going down to falls but passable.

Great hike and very well marked. Did not see a single person on the trail. You can hear the river the entire hike.

Definitely more in the moderate difficulty range. Plenty of very rocky patches along entire tire, especially the closer you get to the bridge. Also lots of roots. Some beautiful scenery, and the inclines aren't bad at all, but you will want to be careful and watch your step! Lots of slippery leaves, and I imagine all those rocks could get VERY slippery in the winter. Wear some good, durable hiking boots and you should be fine. A little over 3 miles to the bridge; very neat place. I can see why that area would make for a cool, serene place to stop and rest during the warmer months. Would visit again, but next time I will wear my heavy duty trail shoes!

Beautiful hike and nice waterfall with good swimming possibilities at the right time of year. It is technically challenging: climbing over rocks, steep steps, and a significant elevation gain (the start/end is flat for maybe 1/2 mile). Well worth it!

Also, we met a couple friendly dogs along the way!

This trail is a totally different animal in the late fall/winter. There is no way it should be classified as easy. There are loads of leaf covered rocks and a VERY treacherous crossing or two. Still, it's one of the best low traffic trails around. Only saw one other person on the whole trip. Was not happy to find traces of humans in trash scattered intermittently on the trail though. The campsite at the big bridge is "Da Bomb"!!!
