Not too hard. Worst part is from the nature center bridge to the top of the ridge. Of the three overlooks in the gorge overlook section, only the one closest to the nature center is worth hiking out to. My kids (9 and 11) did fine on this hike. Very crowded in spots, too. Had too wait in line to get across the swinging bridge both times we had to cross ( limit of 6 people at a time ).

Took a day trip here to check out the trail and it was great! It was sprinkling all day, and we got there early, so there was a lot of morning life everywhere. The water may have been higher than normal, but there was one decently sized creek crossing - I was glad to have water sandals in my necessity pack. The suspension bridge was really cool a few miles into the hike. Made for a good 'destination' point. The trail was mostly clearly marked, with only a couple ambiguous spots, but it didn't take long to relocate. Definitely an all day affair! The ups and downs were not overwhelming, but a good little challenge for amateur day hikers. And, as expected from a heavily wooded, near water in parts type of trail - don't forget your bug repellant and tick check periodically!! I plan on return trips for sure.

I went back in April and it was a great trail. Hard is a good rating for it. This was my first solo backpacking trip and the hardest past by far was the gorge. This trail definitely showed me what I was made of being that I am a beginner. The trail was marked well and taken care of for the most part besides the downed trees. Would hike again!

I had two+ days and was easily able to hike both upper & lower loops, and camped at both sites. All the trails were managed well and easily navigated. The staff did let me know ahead of time that due to the summer's dry spell, that there wasn't much water. I stayed at a site near the river, and there was enough to filter for dinner and refilling. The second site did have a well pump that worked perfectly.
Had a great time, beautiful scenery, and good work out too. Will go back again.
