A really amazing hike. Could not recommend it any more highly! So many beautiful cliffs and rock formations. The view at the end is great. Definitely an easy hike if you’re just looking for a brisk one.

one of my favorite short hikes with fun obstacles, beautiful rock formations and endangered plant life. Cumberland sandwort I think it is.

great easy trail with spectacular views. I've only hiked part of the new connecting trail (can't remember name) buy also spectacular. Although the Easy rating no longer applies.

This was a great hike with great rock formations and the water fall

Easy. Well marked & maintained. About 4.2 mi with spurs to Needle Arch & Slave Falls. Really nice hike with superb geology & water. Needle Arch very cool. Slave Falls is spectacular. Recommend going after a recent rain.

Beautiful trail to hike in the snow. Lots of ice and evergreens. Really enjoyed this trail

too easy to be considered a hike. if you're looking for an easy walk, this is it.

Easy hike with awesome views. Lots of places to explore on the trail. The rock shelter with all the boulders was a favorite of our group.

Double back a little from the overlook and go down the steps into the canyon. Be sure to see the Killdeer Arch/ Mesas, you’ll still end up at Black house Mt Rd. Nice hike. About 3.5 mi. one way

Gorgeous view for minimal effort. Would wait a couple weeks for leaves to change for optimal hike.

If you go you must take the trail that goes down under the overlook to see all this area has to offer, so much more to see than just the view from the overlook, much longer hike but well worth it.

This is another hidden gem. Well-graded, well-maintained, lightly-used, lovely woods. The overlook reminds me of Savage Gulf only smaller. There is a lovely bench on a rock shelf that invites you to sit and enjoy the woods awhile; I was trying to do it pretty quick, but I couldn't help but linger there a bit. It's also next to the Pickett-Pogue Astronomy Field.

Nice easy walk through the woods! Slave Falls was beautiful!

Great, relatively easy hike. The flow at the falls was not all that great, but the hike in the woods was very peaceful and worth the trip. You cannot go to the base of the falls. They have it 'sort of' fenced off. Take your camera!

Our trip to Twin Arches started at the Middle Creek trailhead. We went "straight" to Jakes Place, set up our tent, did the Twin Arches loop, then stayed the night. The next day we did the loops we had bypassed on the first day. Each loop was spectacular and had its own feel. There are two trails to the falls to see it from different sides. Looks like people go down to the falls (around fence line) but it is causing erosion:-(. The Slaves Falls Loop is rolling hills thru the woods and was pretty easy.

*NO facilities at this trail head. I suggest driving to the Twin Arches trail head to use the restroom, before hiking this trail*
Very easy trail to hike, not super strenuous at all. Also, this trail had many spider webs across the trail, in many spots. I recommend using either a long stick or your trekking pole, to clear your path, as you walk. The water levels have been VERY low, no significant rain falls.....so the actual "falls" were nonexistent. But regardless of water flow, the area is absolutely gorgeous, and the history of this spot is amazing.
Although VERY, VERY small, in comparison to the Twin Arches, I recommend making the short trek to Needle Arch, while you are there. It's a nice addition to the Slave Falls walk, you might as well do it, while you are there.

Nice, wide trail with some rocky areas which would be wet if slippery. No slaves

2 adults and 3 10 year old girls had a great hike...we took shelter in the Rock house during the high winds and sleet and rain as a cold front came through. Great hike. Spring Break 2016. reminded us of hiking in the Red River Gorge in KY. Where we usually hike.

Nice rock shelters, falls and a well maintained trail. There's a worthwhile split to a rock arch off of the Slave Falls trail as well. Dog friendly.

Beautiful short hike. The creek mysteriously disappears into the sandstone canyon covered in groves of rhododendrons and towering White Pines and Hemlock. It's one of our favorite late day hikes just before sunset.

Very enjoyable day-hike loop and plenty to see. Slave Falls, Needle Arch, Mill Creek Arch (spur trail) and the Indian Rockhouse were all awesome features of this hike. It's wintertime so the scenery was very easy to spot. Trail is in good shape and this hike would be easy for most hikers.

We spent a little extra time off trail to find some of the other aches hidden around the area. This made for a good adventure all around.

For the most part an easy trail with an amazing amount of things to see and enjoy. Well worth the time it takes to hike that includes a waterfall, arch and rock house. Since the trail is a short one for the most part an additional side trip would be a drive to the O&W trestle which is also well worth the effort.
