This trail is absolutely amazing and beautiful. The overlook is stunning and it makes the climb totally worth it. However, make sure to be extremely careful and to look out for potentially dangerous animals. My friends and I camped overnight in a campsite near the main overlook and we spotted a mountain lion that hissed and growled at us on the way back to the campsite from the overlook. The next morning we saw 2 Black bear cubs and their mom as well as a few snakes.

Needed a break from really frigid weather these past three weeks. What a delightful, well-marked/maintained trail with natural arches to see. Today, 25 Jan. 2018, was clear blue @ low 50's. Highly recommend this trail and other area trails to refresh your soul.

Diverse trail and the twin arches are stunning!

Took a 4 yo who walked and a 2 yo who rode. All had fun. Incredible wonder to find in the middle of nowhere.

Atop of the south arch offers so beautiful views.

Hiked Angel Falls Overlook and the Grand Gap Loop over two days. There is a perfect camping spot where Angel Falls Overlook Trail intersects with the Grand Gap Loop Trail. It is behind the sign at the top of the hill. There is no water on the trail after the small rock shelf that you hike which has a cable attached. Make sure you fill up your water there. We used a mini sawyer filter. Camp site is about .5 mile past the ladder and rock shell cable are. Stumbled on a black bear twice while hiking this trail so beware. Beautiful views at the two overlooks to the right of the intersection mentioned previously. All in all a great hike!

Did the entire loop. Really cool rocky outcroppings and rock formations in addition to the arches. Trail past the south loop is pretty much either straight up a ridge or down a ridge depending on which way you travel. Me, my 12 y.o. and dog were definitely worn out at the end. Worth the trip!

Tough stairs

The Charit Creek Lodge is a rewarding treat to see along the loop. Lots of history in this area. Very pretty area!

We only did the loop to see the arches so I can’t rate the whole trail but it was epic! There are caves that cut through the rock you can traverse easily at the south arch. Truly an amazing natural feature! Mostly an easy hike except for a couple of steep stairwells. I would drive cross country to see the arches. They are a sight to behold.

There seems to be some confusion in the reviews about the 2 loop trails.
There is a short loop from the trailhead to the arches, 1.2 miles total. There is also a long back loop off the short loop which takes you down into the canyon, past Charit Creek lodge, around the canyon rim and back. AllTrails clocked the whole distance as 5.4 miles.
Fantastic Cumberland Plateau rock formations. The folks at Charit Creek lodge were very hospitable about using their restrooms and refilling our bottles from their potable water source - crucial as we were hiking with temps in the 90's.

Hiked this trail about a week ago. Great trail. This app would have come in very handy when I was camping with my four Shih Tzu companions at Bandy Creek. Lots of nice trails in the area but was only able to log about 27 miles worth before returning home. Hopefully I will be returning to the area in the near future for an extended stay and lots more hiking.

Absolutely a must. Huge arches. Side by side. Trail steel but wooden stairs help. Two of the stairs are steep. Take your time. Not a race. Enjoy the walk. Paths are free on a lot of obstructions. Well maintained paths.

Some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen.

I really like this trail. A good portion of it is along the Rock Creek. A couple nice camping spots on the water. Good for a one nighter.

Absolutely amazing arches. They are huge. Definitely worth every step along the way. Gravel road to parking lot with toilet. No water. Trail has forest floor, rock and wooden stairs with rails. A couple are very steep but just watch your step on the stairs. It is a moderate trail because of the stairs. About .7 miles one way. A lot of canopy over the trail that provides shade along the trail

We had a group of mostly young Boy Scouts. We enjoyed camping at Jakes Place and the side trip up to Slave Falls was worth it for sure. This was the perfect loop for our younger guys with heavy packs and sore legs. Luckily we had amazing weather.

Titled "Twin Arches" but doesn't go within miles of the Twin Arches?!

Beautiful views, rock faces and flowers

Great trail, beautiful views. Stay at Jake's Place and do a side hike to Slave Falls.

Really great hike! Lots of flowing water and small falls from all the recent rain. Multiple wildflower species just popping out. Recommend starting on lower arch part of loop and taking loop all the way to Jake’s Place (ideal spot for picnic or rest on the rock benches) and on to Charit Lodge. There’s a suspension bridge that follows on to the Sheltowee Trace we had to try out just off main trail. Then on for a relatively steep climb for the last mile. Well worth the finish on the upper loop.

Trail was well kept. Just before and following Jake’s Place there were lots of wooded plank bridges on the trail that made for fun adventures for the kids. This part of the trail followed a well flowing creek. Very wet and muddy trail on the back side but the previous day it rained all day. Waterproof or resistant boots a must.

Took us approximately 4 hours. The 5 year old set the pace.

a beautiful area! hiked down to Charit Creek Lodge then looped back out through Jake's place. total 5.5 mi.

gorgeous view at the overlook. worth the climb. whole trail is well worth the hike. a little bit of everything.

Love love this loop. Amazing views. Beautiful.

Great trail. Can get kinda confusing with the lack of markers. The view and the trek up the ridge are gorgeous. The bridge to get to the overlook is broken and the “alternate route” was a swim through a 5ft deep creek. So get ready for a cold wade. Overall great hike.

Moderate. Well blazed & maintained. Hiked counterclockwise. Begins easily through mixed forest. Descends to creek side past a few rock houses. Long rolling section along the water is very pretty/peaceful. A bridge is out along the creek but no trouble going around. Leave creek w moderate uphill. Finishes on the road w approx. .5 mi back to trailhead. Bit of a drive to get to this trail but worth it.

Loliipop out & back combo w Grand Gap Tr-12.4mi. Easy. Well marked & maintained. Bridge over Fall Branch broken but can still use. Superb section from Fall Branch up to the plateau-interesting rock features. Several pretty waterfalls & some great vistas from outcrops on the rim. A very enjoyable hike.
