This is a great little hike, although you could make it longer and keep going down other connecting trails. Parking is very easy at the Craven House, I think the previous review didn’t realize this. The view from the top is fantastic, a must do if you’re in Chatanooga.

Tried parking at Point Park, but the beginning of the trail there is not dog friendly due to steep steps made of metal grating. My dog couldn't handle them due to both the steepness and her paws falling through the grating, and there's no way around. So we went to the small Sunset Rock parking area and waited 30 minutes for a spot to open up.

Sunset Rock is a great place to see the sunset (obviously), but the Bluff Trail was poorly marked and had many sections of tricky footing with no real payoff because the great views are at the parking areas. Wouldn't do this hike again. Visit Sunset Rock - just a short walk from the road - but pick another trail in the area for a longer hike.

Nice hike and covered in Poison Ivy and a snake den under a rock by path! Beautiful hike!

This is just a 2 minute walk from your car for one of the best views in Chattanooga!

Poison Ivy was overwhelming. The trail is overgrown in several spots. Trail surface is excellent. Waterfalls with bridge and a rock staircase with hidden stone door. Really cool. A great little swimming hole too.

Nice hike, but TONS of poison ivy. Needs to be removed.

This is a very scenic hike! Multiple water falls and rock formations. not sure where they are getting the 2 miles from. this hike is 1 mile out and back from the road. Easy for all levels.

Great hike. Lots to see.

As heavily trafficked as this trail is I was surprised by the overgrowth. The signage is nonexistent. Made a wrong choice at a no sign split and entered into the path of the secret garden. The over hanging kudzu made for beautiful doorways to enter into the unknown, but climbing through them was a bit difficult. We finally got ourselves turned around and made it to the top. We didn’t mind the adventure but for a non local , signs would be helpful.

Busy Trail, easy accessible from the free parking (behind the washrooms) at Point Park Loop or if you are extremely lucky you can park right above Sunset Rock. The trails is not marked from Point Park but if you follow the signs to the Museum you will find steep metal stairs down to the Bluff Trail, turn left for a nice easy hike to Sunset Rock. Once there your choices are return the way you came or as we did walk up the road and check out the well to do residents who live atop this historic landmark.

The Bluff Trail for the most part is well maintained, I’m guessing that's because of the high amount of visitors that walk this route that it is just foot bare. On other hikes around Lookout mountains we have come across neglected and dangerous trail conditions.
Trail signage could be improved A LOT.
DANGER! ZERO TRAIL MAINTENANCE on Mountain Beautiful Trail!
At this time 08/17/18 we strongly suggest you avoid Mountain Beautiful Trail, this hazard filled trail presented us with grown over trails with waist high ground cover, (much of it "leaves of three") making each of our steps hazardous and onto unseen thus unknown ground. There were multiple downed trees and choking vines forcing bent over tight squeezes or clambers over sizable downed trees, staying ever aware of the potential for snakes below the downed trees.
We can confidently state that the Mountain Beautiful Trail was the WORST maintained National Parks trail we have EVER experienced.
By the time we finished our legs were red and itching, we were covered in spiders webs and brushing off spiders (freaking Maxine out) and we were just so pissed off at the trails condition that we seriously contemplated walking up the busy Scenic Highway to return to our car parked at Cravens House.
Luckily the Hardy (hike/bike)Trail paralleled the road, this unimpressive trail follows the Hydro Pylons, but we were truly thankful that it was wide and clear.
I have written a letter to the Park Superintendent, I trust he/she would want to take immediate action and clear the dangerous hazards on Mountain Beautiful Trail, but who knows???
Just be warned!

Not a hike but more of a stroll around a manicured park. Fantastic views.

Nice easy hike!

There is a great pool at the falls near the bridge.

Love this little trail! We only had a little time before heading to Nashville and this was the perfect hike. Very interesting with small waterfalls and pools of water (a lot of rain lately).

Perfect trail for kids! Only was 1mi to the falls AND BACK though. Two small swimming hole areas. TONS of poison ivy on sides of the trail.

Nice wide trail. Waterfall trickles into several small pools for the kids to play in

Great trail with fantastic views! Tons of places to get some outdoor climbs in too if that’s your thing. Saw a ton of people top roping, definitely bringing my gear back next time!
Otherwise was a great hike, we brought lunch and picnicked at the top.

A short hike from the parking lot not a lot of parking. But it is a great view of the river.

Early morning is best for numbers of people. Always love this place and the hike to get there! Minimal ticks for us this trip. My 2 huskies love the trail!

This hike will always be one of my favorites. It’s not strenuous and it’s easy to make it a short or longer hike. The rocks are perfect for relaxing in the shade or having a little picnic.

Great, but be warned that there are some rocky bits so wear appropriate footwear. If you just want to see Sunset Rock and don’t want to hike there is a parking area off West Brow road with a short easy walk.

A great short hike for everyone. Parking is limited and you can pass the parking lot pretty easily.

A hidden gem! Right off the highway but somehow still secluded and beautiful. You’ll definitely want to take a dip in the summer!

Not too hard of a trail, there is climbing involved, so may be difficult for children. Beautiful views at the top! You can see the whole city.

great trail if you're on a time limit or want something easier for people that aren't as physically able. There are even a few spots to get your feet wet on a hot day.
