This trail starts off easy. You'll start on the lakeside trail and you'll eventually find the marker to this trail. its tricky in the fall as you can easily get off trail and find yourself climbing even steeper than the normal trail. All the leaves (to me) on the ground got me mixed up going up. going down it was straight forward. in the end it is worth the hike as you can not beat these views. Be mindful of others coming up or down. The steps dont allow much room for 2 people. they are steep too.

Loved it! It’s steep but it’s a great hike. I probably wouldn’t take little kids or a stroller. Dogs seem to like it.

Wow. For me, it earns its hard rating. Did the down and back. In the morning cold and foggy, afternoon sunny. Almost like two different hikes. Only saw one other hiker the whole day. Offers up, down, water, outhouse, about all you could want. Kicked my butt.

Nice. A bit muddy

such a great hike. challenging in some areas for sure. well marked. Red trail was great and heard the white trail is the most challenging.

Really beautiful. The trails were sparsely marked. Given the leaves that had fallen, it was hard to discern where the trails led because trees were not marked.

nice trail

awesome pretty scenery

Great hike

Best trail running in the area with good climbs. The loop is 4.5 miles, the connector is 1 mile and one of several ways to access the loop. This is the longest access method, some shorter options are Deep Wells entrance and Chickering entrance.

Great trail. Not “easy” though. It’s not extreme or difficult by any means, but definitely not easy.

Beautiful narrow, rocky, root-filled path. We hiked on Nov. 1 and the colors were spectacular as was the view of the river. Path was easy to follow even though there were some overgrown sections. The view of the railroad tracks traversing the river was a very nice sight.

Love all the trails at Barfield. We have hiked all the trails. Only thing is that the White Trail needs to be marked a little better and no way is the White Trail for the whole family. There’s quite a few rocks that you have to jump across with a fairly good distance between them. Other than that absolutely love it! The workers over at Barfield are friendly and helpful. Great job Barfield!

not that easy, but a great little hike in the middle of the city. dont miss it!

Very long and good workout. Had to stop just a mile short sadly because of time restraint. We haven’t hiked in the dark yet and was worried. However, it is 11 miles, as my phone counted 10 miles were done and was just about to go around the final bend.
Very good still though, lots of rock and a very interesting trail. Loved some of the views around the 3 mile mark and loved some of the rocky terrain. I will complete this next time however! I’m coming for u :)

Pretty good trail overall. Seen several deer while we were hiking too, which was pretty cool.

If you want to feel like you are deep in the woods without driving far from the city, this is your trail. Sure, there are parts that intersect the paved paths at points, but all the tall hardwood trees more than make up for it. There are two steep climbs at the beginning, but then you are at the top of the ridge line near Farrell Road, a remnant of the scenic unpaved driving road. After a while, you descend into Buggy Hollow where there are multiple foot bridges, although all the streams are dried up in the fall. Ascend again and you can split off the trail around the 2-mile mark to get to Luke Lea Heights with a good view of downtown Nashville. From here, it's all downhill back to the trailhead.

Can you really ride horses here? I've never seen any. Kinda cool though!

Very fun trail, very secluded for the majority of the trail. Not well maintained however so you have to go off trail sometimes, not a trail for beginners.

Knoxville’s premier 5.3 mile loop through beautiful Sequoyah Hills down Cherokee Blvd. Very roadie friendly and always someone to ride and chat with. Each lap will give you about 400 ft of climb and there are multiple Strava segments.

Great trail. Wife and I enjoyed very much. Only recommendation is the Rocky Trail, white colored tree markers need repainted badly. Got lost off trail a couple times but will definitely be back regardless.

My favorite trail.

This trail is quite popular for good reason. I rarely went more than 5 minutes without coming across another person. The beginning and end of the loop parallels Vaughn's Creek which is picturesque. I was surprised how rocky the first quarter mile of the trail is as you ascend the hill. What sets this trail apart from most others around Nashville are the high elevations and the large old growth hardwood forests with some of the largest cedars and oaks I've ever seen. The climb to the top of this trail was pretty brutal for a beginner hiker like me, with the seemingly endless switchbacks, but I certainly felt accomplished by the time I reached the top of the highest knob. The rest of the trail takes it easier on the hiker.

Love this hike! Fun for families and dogs.

Did this nice hike with my Frenchie! My frenchie got a little tired at points but we enjoyed the hike!

The Old Hickory Trail is a great place for a quick hike if you want to experience quiet and solitude. On a good day, you may see plenty of deer on the trail especially around the boardwalk areas and perhaps a gaggle of turkeys near the pond. Few people know about the history of this trail, but about half a century ago this area was desolate from the construction of the damn near by. The way the woods have reclaimed the land really makes me appreciate the perseverance of nature.

Great short trail run will plenty of options to extend. Smooth terrain for the most part and a few hills that will spike your heart rate, including the run up the stairs from the parking area. The white loop also easily connects to the red loop if you’re up for more miles. The 2 together is about 8 miles.

Amazing bike ride. I will say that the route for the 11.2 mile loop is not well marked. I would like to see Alltrails add it to their list of options. I will go back now that I have the app on my phone and familiarize myself with the 5.8mile loop then try the 11.2 later. The downhill portion is a lot of fun...be careful with a lot of leaves and debris on the road that you pay attention!!!! Enjoy
