Great trail! Creek crossings caused a little anxiety as they were my first, but I made it! Beautiful falls make the trip worth it.

5 of us hiked this trail today. Beautiful! Water at nice level so we were able to make the 13 creek crossings without getting the boots too wet. The Catawba Rhododendrons were all in bloom. The trail feels like you are in a canyon. Lots of little falls and cascades. There are actually two magnificent falls. The second, above the first, takes a little more difficult climbing. We were able to get up into the first falls. Felt wonderful.

Trail is rocky and quite muddy in some parts, but very little elevation gain makes it quite enjoyable. We didn't encounter too many people even one day after a holiday. The biggest deterrent is the road getting into the parking area.

my family and I enjoyed this trail. You'll definitely get your feet wet with so many creek crossings. But we loved it!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Google maps directions were incorrect when following the driving directions from the AllTrails App. It routed us up someone's driveway that is posted private property. So, don't turn left on Pete Greever Road. Stay straight (slight right) and that forest road forks.... keep staying RIGHT. Eventually you will come to a small parking area (keep driving up... it takes a while) , and the Gentry Creek Falls trail begins there. The signage to get you there is lacking. Once on the trail, it hugs Gentry creek all the way up to the falls. The trail was in good shape, but be prepared to get wet! You will need to criss cross the creek 18+ times. The trail is gorgeous, and the falls are a wonderful payoff at the end. There are some rocky sections, so sturdy shoes are probably best. Trail is well marked with Navy blue blazes and proper creek crossings are easily identified with trail continuing on opposite side. The trail is definitely moderate. If you are trying to stay dry, expect all of the creek crossings to slow you up a good bit, so leave yourself some extra time. Plus you will want to budget additional time to enjoy the waterfalls (the water is freezing cold, but refreshing). We will definitely do this hike again before it cools off, as you will want do do this hike in warm weather.

A nice walking trail that is shady and cool in the summer. It is nice to walk beside the running water.

It was a very beautiful view at the end but definitely will need some good hiking boots for this trail, very rocky. Stuck my head under the waterfall water and it felt very refreshing after that rocky walk. You do cross streams/rivers. The road to the trail is narrow and along a hill.

A great hike for a warm day. Seeing that you cross through water around 15 times one way, it needs to be a warm day. I wear chacos and have no issues with this, but my brother had to keep removing his shoes until he just gave up on taking them off when heading back out. If the guys read this that were Geocaching, 3 crossings are maybe 1 mile into it. the other 12ish crossings are in the next 1.6 miles.

Plan on getting wet! Nice trail that is not strenuous. Be sure to go all the way to the end of the dirt road for the trailhead.

Awesome mid Winter hike.

Easy trail most of the way, with the exception of scrambling over rocks near the falls. The slope is very gentle and generally follows the stream bed. There are 18 stream crossings, most of them with flat rocks for stepping across. You will get your feet wet. This is a quiet trail with little traffic, and an optional Jeep Trail nearby.

This trail is very beautiful. It’s about a 2.8 mile trek to the falls. If you plan on camping out at the falls overnight I would suggest hammock camping no good places for tents on this trail or at the falls. It’s a easy mostly flat hike, but very rocky. There are about twenty water crossings and no were for swimming at the bottom fall the upper fall may be suitable for a quick dip I did not go up to it didn’t see a way with out rock climbing however another hiker mentioned you have to go up the hill to the left of the lower fall and work your way up the root system and then your there. Took my wife and 11 year old it was a great hike. Not many people around and no real good dead wood for a campfires.

Easy walk, lovely stream.

easy to moderate 2.3 mile out and back trail to pretty double water fall .the trail has hardly any elevation gain it is rocky in places, and you do cross the creek alot 13 times I think but worth it, good day hike

A very nice trail along the creek with pretty scenery but no views along the way. Falls is also attractive. Saw four groups hiking out as we were walking in and three groups hiking in as we were hiking out but managed to have the falls to ourselves while we were there. Several young kids seemed to have no troubles with the hike.

Beautiful hike. Highly recommend! It took us 3 hours but we ate lunch by the falls and stopped to let our dog swim a couple of times.

Great trail--not too much elevation change but very rocky. Lots of stream crossings. Well marked and walked along the river most of the way.

Great trail. Like others have said, very rocky. We hiked to the falls but then decided to go a bit further and scale the waterfalls. There are three levels to the falls and we made it to the very top! It's dangerous though as you'll be going off an unmarked trail.

Very rocky trail. The waterfalls were very nice and the temperature was wonderful walking next to the water. Definitely got my feet wet and fell in on the way back.

One of my most favorite trails. Nice and shady on a hot summer day. Love crossing the creek and getting the feet cooled off. As others say, you cross the creek each way about 15 times (more if its been raining and some of the normal trails are now are under water!) Definitely wear shoes you don't mind getting wet / water shoes and something with good tread. Although the trail is not difficult in elevations it is very rocky. We go several times a year

Great little quick walking trail (just under 2 miles roundtrip). Overall easy trail. Nice and Shady and quiet. Good place to avoid the bicycle traffic of creeper trail but still walk alongside the creek.
