Explore the most popular lake trails in Tennessee with hand-curated trail maps and driving directions as well as detailed reviews and photos from hikers, campers and nature lovers like you.

This trail is odd - some places the trail is narrow - other places you are on the road - some parts are fairly steep too -- and better have your alltrails map - it is very poorly marked -- however, the scenery is great and the lake is beautiful. We mapped it at 4.72 mi. Would def do it again. Dogs are fine on this one - many opportunities to get in the water.

Nice hike with some steep sections but not too hard wouldn’t have miles adding the cave loop

Very well maintained trail that is easy to follow. Highly recommended if your in the area!

nice family hike.

Great short hike! A little along the water and through the trees. First part you will park and enter past the yellow gate, and walk through a lot of gravel until you get to the main tree area. The first fork you come to; the left continues the trail while the right will be a short walk out to the point to see the lake. As you finish up this trail it will connect you to the Baker Hollow Branch Trail and you will come to another fork. Left will take you to the Baker Hollow Branch Trail parking area and right will continue on to the Baker Hollow Branch Trail. The trail is very well marked so it’s easy to follow. This trail is one of 9 connecting trails that make up the 30 miles of the East Lakeshore Trails.

Loved this trail can't wait to try another trail with my dogs.

My favorite at Panther. I continue on the ridge trail .75 for a nice beach for the dogs.

Good trail, swinging bridge and overlook rock are interesting. Good hike.

Paved trail. we love this one! no pets allowed.

Fun, interactive trail for the younger kids.

Well maintained and very friendly and helpful people in the visitors center. Definitely will be back.

Hiked with our 7 year old son. It was a bit strenuous, but he made it like a champ. We loved this trail.

I really enjoyed this trail. I had such a blast with the family. It's a nice and easy stroll.

What a sweet spot! Amazing lake views and so many trails you can choose from. Dogs aren’t allowed on the trial but they are allowed on Otter Road which is just as beautiful. :) Perfect for an afternoon walk.

Great hike! It’s a real workout

Superb hike! Wonderful views of the lake. The path could use some maintaining and the blazers could be more frequent.

not considered a trail to me,a nice quick walk next to a big pond and baseball fields.

The trail is DOG FRIENDLY. Amazing place, beautiful mountain views, easy stroll. Should’ve brought kayaks! Will definitely be back to car camp & kayak. Total hidden treasure... actually considered not leaving a good review so as not to attract more people & dogs to this slice of heaven.

Difficult because of steepness at times but worth it for the views. I would recommend a walking stick, plenty of food, and plenty of water for the long journey. We started at the overlook and hiked 10km to defeated creek camp and 10 km back. It was about 12.5 miles round trip and took us about 6 1/2 hours.

I enjoyed the walk a great deal. Flurries this morning gave a nice dusting to the trail and the scenery. Lots of geese on the lake.

Short but fun. A few rocky sections to challenge your stride. Well marked. I’d do it again!!

I'd call this an easy to moderate trail depending on one's fitness level. if water is high, you may have some issues with a low bridge along the way but a great trail with beautiful changes in topography.

I’d definitely rate this as hard if you do the full loop, though it’s also pretty balanced. Went during the late winter and it was a good hike. Not much reward at the end, but instead the majority of the hike as great views, and lots of wildlife! I saw two snakes!
I’d definitely make sure you’re in shape and/or well hydrated before doing this trail, as the incline can get pretty intense at times.

Wouldn’t recommend in the summer unless you’re just really hardcore.

Nice, well-kept trails. Just not enough of them! Very short.

Dog friendly, beautiful easy trails with views and water access. Would like to come back and kayak here.

DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED. Drove 45 minutes to hike here with my dog and there are signs all over saying “NO PETS ALLOWED.”

This is one of the better hikes near Nashville, hands down. This one is not for beginners as it consists of a lot of elevation. Really some great views over the Cumberland. Will revisit in the coming Spring.
