paved, flat, nice along the creek, but lots of freeway noise, even with cicadas trying to drown it out

On a visit to Knoxville in April 2012, I combined part of the Neyland Greenway with the James White Greenway for a nice long walk to burn off some calories after a great meal at Calhoun's On The River. I would recommend both (the greenways and the restaurant). Lots of views of the Tennessee River.

I rode the Greenway as part of a trip that started with the Third Creek Greenway. It's pretty good as long as you don't get nervous riding by a busy road for part of the trip. It has several nice areas beside the river and Volunteer Landing is nice too with the fountains and waterfalls. It's not as well marked as it should be and signs in one area lead me to believe that I could reconnect with Third Creek Greenway from the Worlds Fair Park trail. This lead me to be momentarily lost in the maze that is UT Campus. Fortunately if you can see the river it is easy to get back on track.

The trail is a nice place to walk with your dogs or family and can make for a great activity in the mornings or early evenings. My wife and I live close by and frequent this trail when we need to blow off some steam or get some of the energy out of our two dogs. There is a lot of tree cover and can make for a cooler walk during the spring and summer months. The only downside to this trail is the amount of trash that can be found along the path, and this is due in large part to the scarcity of trash bins. that being said, if you pick up after your dogs, be prepared to carry your bags for a while, or take them for a bathroom break at the entrance. Parking isn't a problem, but I would definitely research the map to see what entrance you want to start at.

Great for a quick afternoon walk! My wife and I take our two small dogs here a couple times a week, and the trail is always kept in great condition. There is still quite a bit of construction going on as of April 1, 2017, and there are a lot of mosquitoes out this time of year. Overall, this is a nice family and dog friendly place to get some energy out and enjoy the views of the Tennessee river.

would give 5 stars if it weren't for the greenway going through the Calhouns parking lot. Could be dangerous.

Good connector on a run from East Knoxville to the river greenways and Morningside Park has improved since they built the new condos nearby. Running along James White Parkway is not the best though :/

This is a nice section of the overall Knoxville greenway system. It's perfectly flat and runs right along the river. You can park at the east end and walk/bike/etc. to the Neyland end, where you can continue on or detour into downtown Knoxville. It goes by the boathouses, so you can get a look at some huge yachts if that's your thing.
