HikingGreat!No shade

Great hike - going up is definitely worth it on the way down. Well marked trail and when you get to the top there a little sign that says Chimney Rock. It was a little more than 2.35 miles to get up according to my watch but the view is really pretty. Be aware of mountain bikers as well!

The app is wrong, it is 2.5 miles up meaning 5 miles round trip, not 4. Posting pictures of two signs showing this. It is 99% up hill, somehow missed that. Not much along the way, probably better in the spring but the top has a great view of the river and the mountains toward NC. We enjoyed it.

A nice short length for a hike! The waterfall at the end is definitely worth the uphill hike (and potentially slippery trail) to get there.

Would recommend hiking this trail when the leaves are down to enjoy the views. Download the map before hiking. Park in the parking spot and walk across the street. When you first start out take the trail straight, there is a side trail on the left marked with a blue blaze. You will be following the yellow blaze trail.. The next intersection you'll arrive at take the left fork. The following intersection joins 2 other trials. Again go left following the chimney rocks trail. Eventually you'll arrive at a beautiful overlook and the trail will start down to chimney rocks. If you follow the GPS in the app to get to chimney rocks you'll end up on the trail with nothing to view. Walk about 5 more minutes down the trail and when you arrive at a horseshoe turn walk to your left through the bushes. You'll notice a small sort of trail. It will take you to a rock outcropping which you can walk out to. Look to your left and you'll see chimney rocks. The outcropping has a great view of the river, weavers bend and the bridge. If you don't want to walk this far to chimney tops, the 1st overlook is a good turn around point.

the fall colors are beautiful at the moment. The beginning of the trail is fairy easy but near the end it’s rocky, but very doable. Lots of dogs and family.

Road there is narrow, but well paved road then turns into a gravel road (watch out for potholes). The hike was moderately difficult. Uphill almost all the way, but not super steep. Lots of leaves on the ground. Great view at the top, just be sure to pack an extra layer since wind can cause it to be chilly.

HikingGreat!Rocky

It's a great hike but I found it more challenging than "moderate." I recommend treking poles as it's narrow, rocky and you're climbing up or descending. In the fall it was very wet, too. There is a stream which I made over the first time without getting wet but slipped on the return trek so you may end up with wet boots if you don't have waterproof boots.

Worth the 1.5 hr drive. The falls are more spectacular than the photos can represent on here. Do yourself a favor and get there earlier in the day. I arrived at the trailhead at 11am and had the falls and the pool at the bottom all to myself with a solid hour before people started showing up. There's also lots of smaller falls and good photo opportunities all the way up the trail. It starts out on an easy dirt road, then forks. Stay to the right and follow the blue markings of the trail. The trail gets a bit steep, but nothing super challenging. My girlfriend has hip issues and made it through like a champ. You do have to cross a stream at one point but you can hop on rocks and the water isn't even deep. Maybe ankle deep. Truly worth the drive.

Very rocky terrain after sign where trails split. Well worth it at the end. One of the most scenic and beautiful hikes I’ve been on. The falls at the end is one of the most beautiful falls in the smokies.

Great trail! In my opinion, more on the difficult side of moderate. A pretty steep incline most of the way up, but WORTH IT! The view is spectacular.
