HikingGreat!

Getting there can be confusing. You turn onto a long one car wide road for about 2 miles until you run into a place to park at the trail head. The trail won’t bring you back to your car where you started- you’ll end up about .75 miles away from the trail head but it’s a nice walk along the river on the way back. Other than that it’s such a beautiful hike

Great hike - going up is definitely worth it on the way down. Well marked trail and when you get to the top there a little sign that says Chimney Rock. It was a little more than 2.35 miles to get up according to my watch but the view is really pretty. Be aware of mountain bikers as well!

Hiking

The app is wrong, it is 2.5 miles up meaning 5 miles round trip, not 4. Posting pictures of two signs showing this. It is 99% up hill, somehow missed that. Not much along the way, probably better in the spring but the top has a great view of the river and the mountains toward NC. We enjoyed it.

HikingGreat!

A nice short length for a hike! The waterfall at the end is definitely worth the uphill hike (and potentially slippery trail) to get there.

HikingGreat!

Gorgeous views. We went counter-clockwise. The coordinates aren’t where you want to park. Keep going. The dot isn’t where you want to park. Keep going maybe another 1/2 mile. There is marked trailhead parking right before some railroad tracks; the end of the gravel road. I mistakenly thought the highest point would be a good place to stop for lunch but no. There is a gorgeous view maybe 20 minutes before the highest point. It overlooks the river snaking. Its spectacular!! Only saw one other person on the trail (a mountain biker).

Scenic driving

I think driving it was fine but I wouldn’t walk it. Just not enough interest. Couple of nice overlooks on the way and of course the top is pretty.

the fall colors are beautiful at the moment. The beginning of the trail is fairy easy but near the end it’s rocky, but very doable. Lots of dogs and family.

This trail is so underrated! We started at the parking lot before the train tracks, a little ways past the big chimney rock map. At around 2 miles we had an amazing view of the river and had about 1000ft in elevation. The rest of the hike was beautifully through the forest with trees rustling and every now and then a view of the river would peak through. The path wasn't rocky or rooty. We did a loop and got 6.5 miles and 1500ft elevation.

Great views! It’s worth the 3mile incline at the front end. We had problems finding the trailhead though. We copied coordinates into Waze and it took us to the fishing spot close by but about a mile too soon. This trailhead is just a little further than the weavers bend trailhead

Road there is narrow, but well paved road then turns into a gravel road (watch out for potholes). The hike was moderately difficult. Uphill almost all the way, but not super steep. Lots of leaves on the ground. Great view at the top, just be sure to pack an extra layer since wind can cause it to be chilly.

HikingGreat!Rocky

It's a great hike but I found it more challenging than "moderate." I recommend treking poles as it's narrow, rocky and you're climbing up or descending. In the fall it was very wet, too. There is a stream which I made over the first time without getting wet but slipped on the return trek so you may end up with wet boots if you don't have waterproof boots.

Im too hot and tired to leave a long review. Who knew it would be 80° in Oct? Anyhoo, since no 3.5 stars I gave 4 just because it is a different terrain than my usual mountain treks. We were prepared for the spider webs with a fantastic spidey stick however we did not know the trail was booby trapped. We took turns tripping over cleverly disguised sticks, stumps and rocks. The view of the river at the top was awesome as previously mentioned. It was definitely nice to finally be going downhill.

This was my first time at this location. There are some great camping spots along the river. The road to the trail heads are windy and rough. I couldn't see the trail head post from the car, but we pulled into an open area near the river where teri other vehicles were sitting. The trail head post is about two to three hundred feet to the left on the other side of the road. The hike up was nice and challenging, although I could have done without the constant spider webs on my arms and face all the way up. I definitely would not want to do this climb on any day warmer than 60 degrees. The fall leaves looked amazing throughout.

10/21/20 - an absolute delight. I hope it remains as lightly trodden, though I fear it may not. The bend is beautiful.
