So, choose your destiny. You can go rainbow falls or bullhead to start. We did rainbow falls. Signs were everywhere to help you make sure you’re still set. Didn’t see bears but great views in multiple spots. Make sure to get there before 8AM main parking lot gets packed fast. If not there are spots everywhere. Some parts are very rocky and paths are small. Make sure to wear pants at least. Enjoy!

Incline all the way to the falls but worth the hike.

This trail merges with the much shorter Grotto Falls trail. If you do not want the extra 5 miles or so of forest hiking then just use the shorter trail directly there. This trail is well demarcated varying width with multiple stretches of root and rock path. Well shaded. Several navigable muddy areas. Several stream crossings. Unfortunately it runs along a road however the road noise was only intermittently intrusive. Limited distant views. The views coming back down to the trailhead seemed much more interesting than the way up.

bridge out

Bridge is out as of 5/31/2020 at 2 miles. 3 miles if you count the extra mile you have to hike where the road at the entrance to the trailhead is out. pictures attached.

Wish that the bushes was trimmed down more cause once you make it up there aren’t any places to sit and take in the views and/or eat lunch! Very steep too.

Very busy and crowded! Bigger waterfall than expected though!

Perfect trail for an easy hike. We brought our 5 yr old. We went around 845am and there was very minimal traffic. We parked at Sugarland Visitors center and the lot was packed one the way back to our truck around 1130am.

Really nice easy trail - follows the river the whole way. Lots of great views! Only trail that allows dogs

The first quarter or so you are next to a boulder river. The rest isn't as pretty hiking. Gota watch every step for most of it to make sure you're not tripping. Big waterfall at the end.

You will be ascending for 90% of the trail, but views of the river and rocky outcroppings are beautiful.

Easy trail with pretty creek and wood views. We kept going to the Sister’s Cabin and back. Going to the cabin there is a bridge crossing and slow incline. It was neat to explore the historic buildings.

loved this hike. note that this hike is about 3 hrs each way, so about 5-7 hours total depending on breaks and your speed. definitely go to each of the points for different perspectives. hike is challenging from a fitness perspective but the trail is well maintained so we found it easier for ourselves (we love this level of hike).

beautiful hike that is indeed harder than it first appears. Straight uphill for >1500" but so worth it! There are several places with rock to sit and rest along the way if needed. Toward the end you start to see other waterfalls and may be tempted to say "good enough" but don't be swayed! Go to the falls - well worth it and lots of flat areas to sit and have a snack and rest before hiking back down. WELL worth the hike!

Nice easy trail right off the Gatlinburg main strip with moderate traffic. It is well-shaded and good for a nice little afternoon stroll.

The fire tower is not accessible and there is no view from cove mountain. Doing the loop back to Sugarlands VC, you go through the burned area and it’s open and super pretty. That was my favorite part of the trail. You also see Laurel and Cataract Falls.

Beautiful views & well paved for a motor trail

I urge everyone to check out this trail! It’s a good 30min to an hour trail with a stream running down most of it! Perfect for any hiker, young or old. The trail is well defined and flat.

Busy hike but overall beautiful view

Overall an easy trail! Went with a couple of friends and it was already mapped out! And there were mile markers so it kept us aware

A couple of trees fell which made it impossible to cross over. However the water helped with cooking the temperature and our waters too

Steep climb to the falls. Hard work for okay payoff. No views along the way and too far from the river to see it well. But the path is clearly marked with solid footing for the hike. There are definitely better hikes in the area that offer more.

Rating a 5 because of the accessibility for kids and dogs. The only trail in the NP near Gatlinburg that allows dogs. Kids will love it because of the prevalence of dogs, they are everywhere. Truly a hike for the whole family. Very easy hike, not a lot of elevation change, but some. Follows a beautiful rushing river with many spots to dip your feet, or more. It only lacks a focal point of interest at the end.
